Great food and service.
This started as a special occasion restaurant for us. Now we eat there even more frequently. My husband had a function there and everyone raved that it was a great choice. My favorite is their short ribs.
Awful Service - Awful Food.
I'll keep this short and sweet. We reserved a private dining room for a special event. Needless-to-say, we were forgotten about from the time we sat down. Our waiter had tables on the other side of the restaurant, so we paid the price for that. We had to request water, and bread - twice. Not sure why since they had the reservation for over 2 weeks, why the table wasn't set with water, bread, etc before we arrived is beyond me. There were 9 in our party and they brought 2 - 1/2 empty baskets with bread and 2 TINY dishes with dipping sauce. The waiter was lost again so we had to literally get up and go to the other side to request more bread and sauce. Appetizers were disappointing. The meatballs tasted like they were made ahead and frozen - absolutely awful. Calamari was not A quality, and they dressed the two platters with "teaspoons" for serving. At one point, we were refilling our own wine glasses -no waiter, no water, nothing! Entrees were less than satisfactory. The food came out in piece mail and was plated on COLD plates. Some ordered steak - tough, the veal was chewy and not tenderized properly and the linquini was not even al dente - chewy and undercooked. Again we went on our search for the waiter. Oh, he poked his head in a full 10 minutes after service to ask if everything was ok - too late. When we asked for a desert layout (we forgot to bring the cake) we requested a layout of desert cake with candles - the cake came out, literally on top of each other and no candles. He walked in the room and just placed it in front of the WRONG person. I guess this review is not so short or sweet, and maybe when they first opened they came out swinging, but it is clear those days are long gone. Bon Caldo misses the mark completely. If you're looking for atmosphere, great service and food, drive right by!
I can't get enough of Bon Caldo!.
I love, love, love Bon Caldo. My husband and I have eaten there a million times and their food is consistently excellent. We mainly get take out because we have a whole lot of kids and can't get out very often but they are always so professional and courteous. I live and die for their chicken Picatta, if you like that dish, try it at Bon Caldo. They have really great Ceaser salad and their desserts are fantastic!
Arrived 5 minutes late for a 7:00pm Saturday evening reservation, was greeted by a smiling hostess and primptly seated. Our server Renato was very promt with our drinks and had great recomendations for our dinner. I had the salmon all griglia which was perfectly cooked and served with a crisp spinach salad, my date had the braised short ribs which we were told were a specialty and that they were, my date said they were the beat he ever had. Desserts were equally stupendous, although the coffee could have been a bit hotter. Live piano in the lounge was a great touch. Look forward to sharing this gem with friends.
I made a reservation and requested a booth as it was my husband's birthday and this is his preferred type of seating. When we arrived we were informed by the hostess that a booth was not available. We were then seated at a table for four that was awkwardly situated in the far corner of the restaurant. As this was a special occasion, we moved on and ordered dinner.
My husband ordered the lamp shank and it was dry. I ordered the chicken which was also dry and difficult to cut into. The "crispy" potatoes were fried after I was specifically told they were not fried.
The dessert was good but the overall experience was not. This was our first visit to Bon Caldo and our last. We would not recommend this restaurant.
