Great Setting ... pricey Cigars.
Stanza has a great atmosphere. Great place to chil and have cigar. However, my main complaint is the price of the cigars. There markup on prices is silly.
I have only been smoking cigars seriously for the past few years. That being said... I was in Stanza last night. When I browsed the cigar menu I looked for 3 or 4 cigars that I enjoy. Now they had them on the menu but each one was double the price that I pay at my local cigar store. Now dont get me wrong... I expect a markup. However, when I am paying 8.50 for a kuba kuba at my store and they are charging over 17$, or 15$ for an Oliva that I usaully pay 7.50$.
Like I said... great setting and staff, but there markup on prices is to high

Great Relaxed/Dark Atmoshphere.
This is a great after dinner or starting point for a night out. It is a little small but if you can get a seat in the lounge area it's great. Very reminiscent of something you would see in a movie. The type of place that the staff almost expects you to know what you want...especiall when they are busy. Old school bar and furniture. Great place for drinks.

Great place, but what's with the music?.
Love this place, but a few things still irk me about it:
- first, in response to unclearab, go to Churchhills in the Millenium Hotel. No hard liquor (yet) but maybe that's more along the lines of what you're looking for. By the way, most cigar bars are now "trendy", so you won't be able to escape this.
- the women that work there might be nice eye candy, but shamelessly throwing around cleavage like it's going out of style? Lowball tactic for the owner to get his staff to dress this way, and unnecessary.
- the music. WHAT IS WITH THE MUSIC?? Classy place with nice leather chairs everywhere, and they play this awful 80s music all the time.
- Ventiliation system could be a lot better. They really don't have one, it's just a bunch of ceiling fans and there's not even high ceilings. I know they're in a basement but they need to do a better job with this.
Otherwise, the place is a pretty fun spot to enjoy a cigar and in a great location. Drink prices are reasonable given some restaurants in the area charge $20 for a shot of good scotch whisky (got the same one at Stanza for $12 a shot). The staff is generally pretty helpful, though on busy nights it can be tough to get a hold of your waiter/waitress. Still, if you're looking to relax and talk to a friend or two for a while and have a few drinks, you won't be disappointed (just ask the owner/manager to stop playing anything from the 80s).

complainers.
I felt the need to comment in response to the person complaining about the price of the Houkka. First off, it's $25 for a full hour no matter how many people are sharing it, NOT "OVER $30" as you stated. Let's be honest!! And, where can you go for an hour of entertainment for $25 in a major city? My feeling is, you don't get out much.

The Worst Ever!.
I have been going to cigar bars for 20 years now all over the world.
I'm sorry to say that this place is NOT a Cigar Bar at all. It is though, a place where 20 something
nit-wits go to be and act trendy. The staff here are the worst people I've ever met, they act like they are
the cream of the crop of the food chain. I really wish it was like it was 10 years ago here and NOT like
the place it has become. Cigar Masters is no better... Boston really needs a proper Cigar Bar where adults can enjoy a nice smoke!

Amazing!.
I've never been to a place quite like this. After a great evening in the north end, my wife and I decided to go downstairs under the Caffe Vittoria to check this cigar bar out. It was incredible! We sat in a booth, and ordered a cigar and a hookah, and a couple of drinks. They were all delicious. The atmosphere felt like right out of a mobster film. It had couches and flat screen tvs. The place has 2 sides to it, both are very big. The prices were reasonable, and I will definatley go back again.

never going back there again!.
Well, after 10 years of going there I can safely say the place is terrible, it has completely changed and is lame. After we have been in for 15 min (literaly just sat down, got drinks and lit our cigars) the waitress came up to us and told us she "needs" to move us to another table as she had a large group coming in. She wanted us to move to the crappy little table for two right next to the restroom. We refused and told her that if she had some other table that would be ok. She dissapeared all huffy and a minute later owner showed up and asked us to move. Not to nicely I should add. It took him a second to realize we are not too keen on the entire situation and told waitress to give us the check. They were literally kicking us out! While expecting us to pay! Which we did, and why, I still can't fathom. Habit I would guess! :). So in short, the entire ambiance, the feel of the little place tucked in and all that stuff we used to love is gone, and unless you are prepared to down your drink and leave don't bother. I have never been so disrespected as a customer in my entire life. They could not wait to get rid of us, and were largely acting like we are some nuissance that they need to get out of the way in order to move on to bigger and better things. It is dispicable, and we are never, never, never coming back. If there were negative stars offered in this review, I would use them. It is a pity that there are so few cigar places in town - if there were more, these bozos would have to show a little more respect to customers

Editorial Review.
North End cigar parlor's patrons enjoy premium drinks while smoking fine cigars or hookahs in the lounge's stylish, subterranean environs.

unique, fun, hot girls, inexpensive.
I am motivated to write due to the review below that talks about the price of renting a hookah. Where in boston can you smoke a Hookah? It is a rare service offered - and it is a specialty service. The reviewer argues that is costs $60 to buy a hookah - well then I'll argue that it costs $4- $6 for a beer in most bars and that is about the price of a 6 pack. Bars will not let you bring a 6 pack in their establishment - just as they certainly don't allow you to tote your own Hookah in. It is a specialty service - and to argue that it is too expensive because it costs $60 to buy one is moronic. The cigar bar is great - hot girls not only work there , but frequent it as well. I've spent a few hours in there drinking cordials with a group of 5 or 6 and the tab is always surprising cheap. I don't reccommend the Hookah based on principle - not because of its price. The music they play is all good as well. Obscure 80s and other eclectic blends.
