“The decor of Gypsy Bar is awesome, but the crowdedness takes away from the experience.”
“Drinks were pricey at an average of $8.50/drink.”
“The smell was so foul and offensive that people had to take breaks from dancing to get fresh air in the front of the bar.”
“This is a great place!”
“$10 for a house vodka drink, and a completely rude bartender in the back who told me "You tell your girlfriends not to come back here," AFTER I left her an unwarranted tip.”
“personally would rather be in an amazing atmosphere, with beautiful people and a good drink that cost a little more, be in than in some local dive bar paying $3 a beer.”
“This place has so much attitude and nothing at all to justify the attitude or overpriced drinks.”
“The bar wasn't that big, but the bartenders were a bit slow for my taste.”View Less
Best Place to Dance.
Been here a couple of times and I can say that only FRIDAY night is their best night.
Music is great with DJ Gera, crowd is decent and drinks are average price for a Boston Club.
Best way is to get on the guest list. I called one of their main promoter, Ricken 857.277.2561. He helped us get on the list and got some of us free entry.
Decor is great, dance floor is decently sized.
Definitely a regular.…
Hottest Club in Boston...by far!.
One of my favorite nightclubs in Boston playing the best house music and the best vibe to meet people. I was here when they hosted Bob Sinclar and the club was out of control. The women that are on
the dance floor are top notch and some of the hottest in Boston.
The best part about the club compared to giant clubs in NYC is that even though its crowded, you can still move around and get through. I also love the jellyfish tank in the front behind the bar. I would deff go back over and over!…
Needs to improve security...Nice Club Overall. it is a nice bar..I havent been out to a nightclub in a long time but I really liked it. Having a military background (Army), I usually notice things that need improvement especially securitywise. One thing that I noticed is that the club does not frisk/check people coming into the club to see if they are bringing in any contraband(guns,knives,drugs....) this is very dangerous. All in all it was a nice place to hangout.…
Overrated.
This place is overrated. I am from Manhattan and this place needs to stop acting like their some fancy club in the Meatpacking District. Guess what?! You're not in friggin Soho--get over yourselves!
Let's start off by saying their bouncers SUCK! They think they're hot $*@!. And again, you're not in NYC. Dude, you probably can't read and you work at a friggin bar on Boylston Street in Boston! You're also like 5'5" and 120 lbs--seriously?! I had the same experience with a friend below with the sneakers. He wasn't even wearing sneakers--they were kind of loafer-like. In fact he had on the same shoes as this guy in front of us who got in. I am pretty sure the guys in front of us got in because of their race and my friend wasn't allowed to get in because of his race. This place should get sued and then they'll get off their high horse!
Inside it's always overly crowded with a bunch of gross smelly skeezy ethnic guys. They play alot of crappy house music and you can barely dance because it's so damn crowded!
I guess it's fine just to try out once--but, be prepared to be disappointed. I'm in law school right now and I think once I pass the bar exam, a lawsuit against Gypsy will be one of the first things I initiate. Anyone else in?…
Cover charge scam, terrible management..
Will not be returning to Gypsy Bar!
Me and some friends lost $90 in cover at the door when one member of our group got turned away during my bachelor party this past weekend. We lined up to go in and each paid the cover as we walked in. I made it as far as the bathroom down the hall from the entrance when I was called back to the door by a friend.
The door man, who was also the GM of the club said with a real nasty attitude "He's not getting in, he's wearing sneakers." (which were black soccer shoes, and had gotten into a few clubs already) I was a little surprised at his tone, to which I tried to negotiate saying we were a bachelor party and were going to spend a decent amount of money" It was then that he informed me that after being turned away, my friend tried to hop the rope and sneak by. Obviously I realize this is unacceptable so I said fine we'll move along. Then the the GM replies "I'm not giving you your cover back". That's when I nearly lost it.
Getting ripped off $90 for being past the door for 2 minutes is not justifiable. If he had said, take your money and move along, I would have been annoyed but would have done so without an issue. We had a dress code issue earlier in the night where exactly that happened. But instead this GM saw this as an opportunity to collect $90 for nothing. I argued with him and he said I'm not returning it because I'm not telling the rest of you to leave, just him, you can stay. This is obviously BS, we weren't going to go in without him.
So this GM was a total jerk (to put it very nicely) and we got ripped off, thus the reason for this bad review. Me and my friends will find plenty of other bars to spend our money at and you should too.…
