In Short – Perhaps Cambridge's ultimate multi-purpose destination, the Middlesex Lounge provides MIT workers and area residents with a chic lunch spot as well as a stylish lounge. The nighttime vibe depends on who's spinning (different DJs appear nightly). Because the low seats and tables are on wheels, patrons have the option to create their own space. The welcoming food menu includes offbeat comfort fare like a plate of ten bite-size tacos or a Kobe beef burger.
Don't even bother

I live in NYC so I'm used to long lines but the lines at Middlesex were beyond absurd. After waiting for 30 minutes the line hadn't moved an inch and we noticed girls who looked like they belonged in a trailer park slipping past the bouncer (who BTW was wearing white pants after Labor Day). Apparently we weren't aggressive enough and didn't slur our words just the right way. The music was ok (from what we heard outside) but after 45 minutes we gave up. Next time, I'll just head to a neighboring gay bar where I know there are no lines, good music, and men who how to appreciate a cute girl when they see one!
- Pros: Can't think of one
- Cons: Long lines that don't move, seedy clientele
great deejays

Depending on what night you go the middlesex can be amazing or comletely boring. there is nothing great about the bar itself except for maybe a good mojito if that's your thing. The D.Js makes it or breaks it but almost everytime I've gone the D.J. has been fantastic. Pretty Boy Jones plays there about once a month. It's like every song that comes on you think, this is my favorite song..and then he mixes it with another completely different one of equal merit and you got yourself a good time. DJ Kon is also noteworthy and tends to play a lot more hip hop and early 90's pop songs. Overall I'd definitely recommend it, just know who's going to be there before you go.
- Pros: great dance music and specialty drinks, diverse crowd
- Cons: long line if you get there after 10, long bathroom line as well
Too bad it's closed down

Too bad this place went out of business. Loved the atmosphere, burgs were awesome but now it's out of biz which is really a shame.
- Pros: Burgers

What to Drink:
Be careful when making a night out of the lounge's house drinks, like deceptively strong dark-and-stormies and aged rum punch.
