“The luncheon buffet is excellent, but I'd recommend it as well for a perfect evening meal venue (especially if you're doing a theatre or other Boston performance; the convenient location can't be beat).”
“The one plus - the raspberry mojito was great, but it didn't make up for the luke-warm, mild lamb curry, overcooked grilled shrimp, or disappointing crab cakes.”
“It seems like a cool bar to hang out even though it's a restaurant.”
“We were glad to see that the food was well-prepared, and they tasted better than other Indian restaurants I have been to.”
“The food is good, with plenty of options and they've got a very tasty drink menu.”
“I'm hoping she no longer works there, because otherwise the place is nice and I'd like to go back.”
“Great service to boot.”
“The spicing of the meals is just right and the prices are very reasonable.”
“And the service was really slow.”
don't eat biryani.
They don't know how to cook biryani.. I ordered hyderabadi chicken biryani it is full of cummin powder and corriander powder very taste less.. I don't know why they are using that HYDERABADI BIRYANI name for that.. my suggestion is go for buffet its Ok, u can pay only 14$ .. don't waste money for dinner.
Thanks.
Convenient and most of the time good. I love indian food! Since this restaurant is so close to the theaters, I tend to eat there a lot. Although I have come across a few errors in the entrees, for the most part everything is delicious, I continue to eat there when I'm in the neighborhood.
Great Place!!. I love this place! It's right in my neighbourhood so I'm a big regular, either to sit or get take out. Anything I haven't devoured home comes home with me and it's just as good the next day. The food is yummy!! The bread, the Nariyal (I can't even say it or spell it but it's delicious!), the Dosa's Mmmmm... The staff here are the best, attentive, professional & friendly. Service is always quick & impecable. I've had lunch there during work and gotten in and out in about 40 minutes. I didn't do the buffet cause I didn't think the spice level would be to my liking but it'd looked decent. I've also had great leisurly dinners on a Friday night with a bottle of wine and a couple of friends. Enjoy!
Horrible.
i heard so many gd things about this place and went with a lot of expectations
was terribly disappointed. the buffet was a misery....the rajma was spiceless....chicken was sour...i even doubted it to be stale.....i had do just do with the kheer as main course rather than the desert
spolied my weekend lunch......to add to it the rice was bad too....the lemon rice as wat it was called was dry...and not edible
god save u if u go for a lunch buffet here
"Two thumbs up" from a Bombay-born boy. Tantric Grill is great . . . authentic Indian cuisine, with some innovative twists to keep it interesting. Their butter chicken rivals anything I had while growing up in India, and the Chicken 65 is on my list of "dishes I'd take with me on a desert island". And don't miss the kheer (rice pudding) for dessert, which is superb. The luncheon buffet is excellent, but I'd recommend it as well for a perfect evening meal venue (especially if you're doing a theatre or other Boston performance; the convenient location can't be beat). Atmosphere is also a draw: striking decor and a very nice bar with interesting offerings. Great service to boot. Highly recommend.
Great service, good food. We arrived with high expectations, which is perhaps why it didn't quite accomplish a 5 star rating for us. One thing is for sure however: the service was impeccably attentive and quick. The menu spanned from all over India, an unusual provision for an Indian restaurant- and each of the dishes we ordered were uniquely prepared. For such an unusual restaurant, with such a convenient location for nightlife-participants, it was very empty for a Saturday night. I anticipate with increased word-of-mouth, this restaurant will do great. All-in-all, we will probably come again for the great drinks and convenient locale, but it seems the Indian company we were with had much better things to say about Kashmir & Mela when it came to genuinity of cuisine.
Tantric is among the very best.. As someone who has been sampling Indian restaurants in the Boston area for the past several years, I can say that Tantric is among the very best to be found. There is a wider variety of dishes offered than in most Indian restaurants, and the consistency in quality among the various dishes is also unusual. The degree of spiciness--which is so important in Indian cuisine--is carefully arranged when the order is taken, and I've never been disappointed with the results in this area when served (as I am fairly frequently in other restaurants). The servers and the owner are very friendly and forthcoming on all matters concerning Indian food, and even on matters of Indian culture. So not only the food makes it a real pleasure to dine there. The lunch buffet is second to none. And, oh yes, the coconut chutney is absolutely out of this world.
If you enjoy Indian food this is the place to go. My wife and I enjoy Indian food more than any other so when Tantric opened in 2004 we were very excited and we have been back many times. The food is always exceptional and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. The spicing of the meals is just right and the prices are very reasonable. If you enjoy Indian food and a pleasant atmosphere this is the restaurant for you.
Good Indian food, Great Cocktails, Crappy Wait staff. We went on a Friday evening, got a great table, and then waited 10-15 mouted for someone to bring water, and another 10 for our orders to be taken. Our waiter hardly spoke English, and thus had a hard time answering our questions. We were never told about specials, but heard other tables getting the 411 on specials. I asked a waitress (Not ours) for a coke and she told me " I'm not your waitress, I cant get anythung for you" (!) I used to be a waitress for years and know you NEVER do that!!! At the very least, she could have said "I'll tell your waiter". I doubt if I ever go there again!
Disappointing food. I tried this place when it first opened about a couple years ago, the food was pretty bad, and i haven't bothered going back (even though i live down the road and eat Indian food at least once a week). Well i was convinced to go back last week with some friends and figured Tantric must have learned something over time...i was wrong. Now some people in our group liked some of the dishes but there were enough dishes that were either poor or barely average that I couldn't call it a good food experience overall. Particularly bad for some reason were some of the staples like daal, malai kofta, etc...not sure how an Indian restaurant can get them so wrong. Plus sides though were that it is stylish place, has a great drinks list, and a good location. I'd go back for a drink and possibly some apps but not dinner.
