My friend's wife recommended Shondi at Joie de Vie. After going through an array of horrible salons and stylists I decided to give Shondi a shot mainly because I trusted my friend’s wife. Fortunately, Shondi did not let me down. SHE IS AMAZING! She listens to what you want and offers suggestions. If you don’t like her suggestions she does exactly what you do want no questions asked. Also, I have virgin hair (no hair color). She suggested we try a subtle light brown. Because I trust her I agreed. We started off very low key and I LOVE IT! I plan on going back and getting more coloring done. I highly recommend Shondi. She is a delight to talk to, she listens to your thoughts and ideas and she does a wonderful job. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Great staff, never late, good price, wonderful service
Cons: none yet

had been given a gift certificate for a salon/day spa downtown and decided to use it yesterday evening. I wanted to pass along to everyone that this place is HORRIBLE. I received the worst eyebrow wax I have ever had (in at least fifteen years of doing so!) The individual who did it was apparently the only person at the salon capable of a brow wax, because I had to wait 45 minutes for her, and then I specifically told her that I like the shape and length of my brows and just needed a clean up. The wax was too hot, and it took some of my skin off, so I have scabs. (gross, sorry). I also have about one half of the eyebrows I used to. She didn't just clean them, they are practically picked clean off. Instead of applying pressure or something cooling to relieve the discomfort after waxing, she took a dry paper towel and wiped, repeatedly over the same irritated area (imagine it being like when you have a cold and your nose is finally rubbed raw...) I had to stop at 7-11 on the way home to get ice for my face because it was burning so badly. I have never been swollen the day after a brow wax. Today I look like I have been kicked. In addition to the brow wax appearance and feeling, the individual who attempted to complete this task had some personal hygiene issues. So, tell your friends and acquaintances so they won't make the same mistake that I did. boo.
