What People Are Saying About Equator

The Scene – Just steps from Mass. Ave., perhaps the city's true equator, this unique restaurant provides colorful locals with a shockingly varied menu and a comfortable atmosphere. Attractive teak tables and wicker seats lend a warm feel to the spacious dining room, while window-side tables provide views of busy Washington St. Service is provided by efficient, ever-smiling waiters. – – The Food – The fact that Equator bills itself as both a Thai and European restaurant only hints at its menu's astounding complexity. From lethal Malaysian curries to straightforward…
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Most of the spicy curries beg for a side of steamed rice, which isn't included in the dishes and costs $1.50.
- Know Before You Go:
- Unlike the menu's Asian items, most of which are served a la carte, the steaks and prime rib are served with a house salad, baked potato and vegetable.

Great Food, Atmosphere and Friendly Staff!
by Kittie at Citysearch
My husband and I decided to check out Equator because we wanted Thai food with a nice atmosphere. We certainly found it here! The place wasn't crowded, seating was large and comfortable, staff was friendly and the food was tasty. I recommend the Chicken Satay and fresh Spring Roll appetizer! We were extremely happy and would return! We took the Orange Line to the Mass. Ave. stop, it was about a 7-10 min. walk to Washington Street on the left. Outdoor seating available too!
- Pros: Freshly Prepared Food, Pleasant Atmosphere & Outdoor Dining
- Cons: Does not serve liquor, only beer and wine.
Nothing Special
by savinoB2004 at Citysearch
After reading the other reviews here I was anxious to try this restaurant. I was quite disapointed. To start, the appetizers were ok but nothing special, and not very much sauce on the side. The main dish was a dish with chunks of chicken that was overcooked, hard and had an under taste. Call me crazy but thats not my idea of great food. The service was average and nothing beyond the call of duty. Instead of chating with co-workers they might bring extra sauces for my appetizers and ask if I'd like another beer. Overall this restaurant is nothing special.
- Pros: Nice Decor
- Cons: Overcooked food
Great Thai food and atmosphere

Went to this restaurant for a work lunch with about 11 people. They were able to accommodate us well. The place is somewhat small, so it was good that we went at an earlier lunch time. The appetizers were great (scallion pancake, grilled tofu, fried shrimp rolls). Our entrees were large for lunch prices and tasted great. I would suggest the chicken fried rice, vegetables with curry, or the green curry dish. The restaurant claims to be Thai/European cuisine, but the lunch menu was strictly Thai. So, keep this in mind if you are planing on going for lunch and were looking forward to a fusion type meal. In all, the experience was pleasant and service was attentive and friendly. Not too expensive either, lunch for about $10-$15 per person.
- Pros: Large portions, great lunch menu
- Cons: Lunch is strictlyThai cuisine, not fusion.

I was just up in boston on vacation with my wife and was on my laptop in our hotel looking for some good thai food. We came across Equator and decided to hop a taxi and give it a try. What a great choice. Cozy, romantic atmosphere, and excellent food. This place is a definate must try for any thai enthusiasts. I will be back in the city in a few months and cannot wait to eat here again. Very friendly staff too.

I love the food at Equator. I have been to this place for 2 years and I have never been disappointed..Great food..Great service...Equator is the Best Thai food in Boston..!!! Anyway I am curious one of the review that they put in "Horrible" topic!!!! I think they misunderstood where they have eaten their food and then they wrote the complaination to Equator. Equator does not have Sushi Bar or serve any raw food like Sashimi!!! That reviewer must write apologize to them. Please be aware when you write or post the review.
