We had a Meal of Condolence after my mother-in-law passing in January 2009 at Victor's cafe. The owner accommodate 35 people, every dish was delicious and nice served. it was a sad occasion for us, but all out friends and family members like the food and atmosphere. We definitely will come back for lunch or dinner. Various banquet menus are available. Russian ravioli, crepes, ice cream are very tasty.

Just about a block up from Coolidge Corner, this place is a really great find with amazing cuisine. Everyong at the table ordered something different and even the foods that I didn't think would be my taste on the menu actually tasted great. They also have these amazing mini pastries which are perfect for after lunch or dinner as they're not too filling. The place has been there about two years and there was barely a wait to sit down - compared to a 45 min. wait down the street at Zaftig's. Definitely recommend it! PROS: quality, atmosphere, location CONS:

Victor's cafe will break all of your stereotypes about Russian food - you won't find extra heavy dishes with a lot of potatoes. Victor's specialty is "bliny" - thin filled crepes. He makes them with salmon fish roe, with smoked salmon, with chicken pate, or just about anything else. The crepes themselves are very light and not at all greasy. Other things to try are the "pelmeny" - Russian ravioli, and the pastry which he orders from the reknowned Cassis cafe in Beverly.
