From the moment you walk into the salon you are greeted warmly and professionally. My sylist Chrissy took the time to talk to me about what my expectations for the appointment were. She gave me the most amazing cut and color! I am so pleased with the results. The products she used were wonderful. I have recomened the salon to all of my friends and family. I have finally found a "home" for my hair!
Thanks again to the staff at Salon Matteo!!!
- Pros: local and professional
- Cons: none
Unreliable

I loved the cut and color I recieved the first two times I went to the Salon.
On my third scheduled appointment, I arrived 10 minutes early. As I sat in the small lot next door, I called the salon to see why the lights were off and the door was locked. The answering machine was the Hairdressers voice stating, "We will be opening today at 2:00pm. Sorry for any inconvenience."
I left a message stating it was very "inconvenient" as I had a scheduled appointment with Rachael at 12:00pm. I never got an apology, just a voice mail on my cell stating, "Call the shop and I'll see what I can do for you."
Paying over $160.00 plus 30% tip and that's the service you get? I wouldn't recommend it.
- Pros: Cut and color was good
- Cons: unreliable service, limited parking in a very congested area
Ask for Rachael

I've forever been one of those people who is on a perpetual search for a hairdresser. Maybe you are like me- did the Newbury Street thing, walking away with a decent color, trendy cut (after 3 hours/$350 plus tip) to be greeted with a ticket and some dink double parked, blocking you in- so you think to yourself, okay, Now I'm going to get stuck in traffic, might as well get a glass of wine- which turns into a few and before you know it, you're sitting in Stephanie's realizing that you've just had a $500 afternoon.
So, then you decide to try the place in town/local mall-and after spending two hours listening to your hairdresser make plans for her prom and reassuring you that "toner fixes everything" you walk out, fighting back tears looking at what you have now decided can be covered by a quick stop to CVS hair color isle... which, trust me, never comes out even.
As you may have assumed, I am well versed in paying too much/leaving unhappy at hair salons. This is what prompted me to write this review- being my first, I hope I will communicate how much I love Salon Matteo and how I can not strongly enough recommend Rachael Lovendale.
When I made my appointment, I just thought, I'll go with it, see what happens. I was shocked at how easy it was to find, and guess what... parking!!! I had blindly made an appointment and as soon as I met Rachael, I liked her. Come to find out, she had owned her own salon for years and was exceptionally well qualified. I don't know what made me do it... but I did utter those unthinkable words "Do whatever you think looks good"...I know, I still can't believe it either.
I left extremely happy, with the best cut/color I have ever had, and not worrying about how I was going to come up with the mortgage. This is by far the best my hair has ever looked and I am so pleased with the whole experience. I would emphatically recommend that you call and book an appointment with Rachael? that is, before all my friends and family do.
- Pros: great cut/color... great prices
