Critters!!!. Went in late at night (10'ish) and was happy they were still open. Got some saki and ordered some sushi. The food was good, not great, but for a late night sushi fix it pleased me. Sat around after eating and chatted with my friend while finishing the saki. Next thing I know there is a little black rodent running across the floor, bumping into a wall, and scurrying back towards the kitchen. It occurred to me then that some of those rolls don't normally come with toasted sesame seeds =). If I hadn't seen the rodent I would rate this as 3.5 stars but cannot recommend to anyone after that.
No beer but japanese sake???. Went several times. It sometimes took so long time to be served, especially busy weekends. Food and the price are just fine, compared to other neighbor japanese restaurant. However, how come there's no beer even though they serve japanese rice wine???
Would not go back.... Bad experience. Waitress took the wrong order (gave me "delux" when I ordered the regular; not having been there before, I didn't realize until I saw the bill), Sitting at the sushi bar was a terrible mistake (unlike at other sushi restaurants) as various waiting staff kept reaching over my head to drop orders off at the counter and/or take plates from the counter (yes, over my head). The chefs looked swamped and disorderly, one of them kept throwing the bamboo sushi rollers onto the counter (and dropped a little piece of crab onto my menu). The fish didn't feel smooth, and a couple of pieces I had a hard time biting through. Overall pretty rude service too, though it is a "crowded Tuesday night" (not!)
Terrible Delivery Service, mediocre food. This place has had consistently terrible delivery service. I ordered two entrees and an appetizer, and it took nearly two hours before they delivered it to us. The food was cold by the time it reached us. We will certainly not order from Takemura again.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Harvard Square Japanese restaurant satisfies students' sushi cravings, day and night.
Disappointing food quality (delivery). I got a delivery order of agedashi tofu (soggy and too salty), california maki with tobiko (tiny amout of imitation crab meat), grilled salmon maki (yellowtail inside not fresh tasting, salmon outside dry), crazy maki (OK), maguro nigiri (good). The fact that it was delivery is only an excuse for the sogginess of the agedashi tofu, though every other restaurant that I've gotten take-out agedashi tofu from uses separate containers for the wet and dry components.
Good value sushi. There's never a line here, but I don't know why. The sushi is really good and they have great rolls. Definitely try the baked scallop roll - california roll with baked scallops on top. The entrees are really good too - we had the sukiyaki which is excellent.
