Editorial Review for Spirit Bar & Restaurant – by Eric Grossman

The Scene
Dark-red walls, dim lighting, lacquered black furniture and funky blue pendant lights hanging low over the bar suggest a trendy club. However, the patrons filling the space are casually dressed and seem more intent on the ball game then they do on being hip. A noisy chatter rises above the house music, as smiling servers bounce between tables, offering friendly conversation along with drink refills.

The Draw
Four well-placed TVs (three big plasma screens evenly spaced behind the bar and one huge projector screen near the doorway) ensure that every guest feels like they have a front row seat at the game. Drink options include an affordable wine list, full liquor bar and 15 beers on tap. Inexpensive menu includes a variety of choices from nachos to pasta, but the tangy barbecue dishes are the only standouts. Boisterous karaoke fills the bars on Thursday nights.

3 Star Rating: Average

This is a fairly generic bar, with a token attempt at weekend brunch, served in a narrow window. However, the servers (at least some of them) are witty, cute, and entertaining to be around. The bartenders are friendly and funny. When the students are out of town, this is a thoroughly worthwhile place to stop in for a drink. On game nights (during school months), this place is too crowded, too loud, and too unremarkable to bother with. But if it's slow enough that you can actually hear the waitress's repartee, it's totally worth the price of admission.

Pros: Service

Cons: Parking, Crowd

Place does pack them in on the weekends--not a bad place to watch a game --they have the MLB package which is great because I am a 26 time world champion yankee fan.. Menu OK-- only problem is the location
