great spot for dinner with friends. Scollay Square is a great place for after work drinks or dinner with friends. Paying homage to Boston's late entertainment district, the decore and atmosphere make for a relaxed yet eclectic atmosphere to enjoy a tasy meal.
best lunch spot in Boston. by mcpats. I love this place. Been there several times for lunch and have always had a great experience. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is excellent. My daughter loves the mac and cheese and crab cakes. I love the steak tips sandwich. Their fries are fabulous. Check it out you won't be disapointed. I can't wait to try Scolla's for dinner.
Our Favorite Restaurant. I have been to Scollay Square about 5 times since it opened. The sirloin and "drunken lobster" meals were delicious and cooked perfectly. My 80 year old mother plans a day trip to Boston with her grandchildren about twice a year, and always takes them to Scollay square for lunch.
New Chef, New menu, New taste. Tried this place a few times a couple of years ago and finally got back and what a surprise. They have a new chef and just introduced a new menu. They also had a 3 course meal for $22 which was really cool and cheap. I did not go for the pre fixe but tried some of the new menu food and it was great. We sat at the bar that is around the kitchen and chatted with the new chef, I think his name was Jason, He was interesting to talk to and man can he cook. Look forward to trying more of the menu
Great Food, Smooth Service. The food is always good at Scollay Sq. Their new Prix Fixe menu is a great bargain! The service was smooth and let us have dinner at our own pace. The chix satay was moist with two great dipping sauces. My steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster mac & cheese was super rich. Wine pours are on the light side, but lots of options to chose from. The vibe is calm and warm. I love sitting at the bar and just have a quick bite (the tuna napolean is awesome). I highly recommend this place, and in the summer the outside patio ROCKS!
great casual bistro. My boyfriend and I wandered in to SCollay Square early one evening for a quick bite and a cocktail -- service was great, the food was very tasty, and the cocktails were excellent. I have just made reservations to take my folks there for dinner -- I think they'll like the vintage retro thing, and they'll definitely love the menu.
SCOLLAY BIRTHDAY. I was looking for a place to celebrate my husbands birthday and needed a table to accomodate 12 people. The owner made us feel very comfortable and welcome, they even printed our menu's with Happy Birthday and my husbands name on the top, a very nice personal touch. We started with the fabulous Kobe beef sliders and a few very fresh wedge salads. All of our entrees arrived together and were delicious. Everyone at the table was so impressed and had such a great time. The wine selection is great, and all of the ladies had a mouth watering Pomegranate martini. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Overall it was a wonderful birthday experience that we highly reccommend and we will definitely frequent Scollay Square more often.
Top Notch. We live around the corner, and this is one of the best dining experiences you can have in all of Boston. Scollay has become "our" place to bring friends and family from out of town. All of them have been nothing but impressed. Every visit is wonderful, with visits and wine suggestions from the owner, to fantastic wait staff, to mouth watering food. Oven fired oysters and seared scallops are among our favorites, and the lobster mac n cheese is a must. Try this place and you will be back.
Modern American cuisine and a Roaring '20s theme provides State House staffers and Beacon Hill locals with an enjoyable juxtaposition..
The Scene
Named after a nearby locale that was all the rage in the 1920s, Scollay Square provides downtown workers and area residents with a casual setting in which to enjoy contemporary comfort food. Black-and-white photographs of the old neighborhood ring the walls, while yawning sidewalk windows fill the dining room with plenty of natural light. The stylish bar area maintains a retro vibe by pushing old-school drinks and playing Sinatra.
The Food
Diners stay glued to a bustling open kitchen that churns out affordable, upscale interpretations of comforting favorites like goat cheese-crusted rack of lamb and seared sea scallops with crab-risotto cake. After starting with a satisfying salad (mixed greens with caramelized pecans, sun-dried cranberries and grilled pears), some diners choose to make a meal out of signature appetizers like oven-fired oysters or skillet roasted P.E.I. mussels. Moist molten chocolate Bundt cake makes is a popular dessert.
Wonderful time. Everything that we ordered was well-prepared and delicious. The scallops and crab risotto cake were excellent. Our wait-person was very attentive and even came back to the table to ask me if a certain ingredient in my meal was acceptable, so she was very mindful of dietary restrictions. An overall great experience, and we plan on returning.
