Elegant and excellent food, but not cheap. Tell the waiter to take his time!.
We went on a Saturday night at 7 pm. Easy parking and seated promptly. The room is outstanding -- its nicely "broken up" by curtains throughout that give the feel of many smaller rooms and keep the noise down. The overall look is quite elegant.
Prices are (in my humble opinion) remarkably high; they aren't simply Boston high, they are top-of-the-line Boston high. Cocktails are $10-15, and it's hard to find wine for less than $60 a bottle.
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the food, oysters and tuna appetizers were both very well prepared, although only 3 of each. The waiter didn't warn us that sharing among our 4 diners wouldn't be easy. I thought the prime rib was excellent - a large portion and very tasty; my wife said that it reminded her why she prefers a filet. Deserts were modest in size, but tasty enough.
My only complaint, and it's not a modest one, was our waiter -- he was constantly appearing and hovering. I was left with the impression that he was trying to "turn over " our table to make way for the second shift. Things appeared and disappeared with such speed, that I didn't feel merely "rushed"; I felt "pushed". Some people may prefer having their plates removed the moment they finish what's on them, or having their appetizers, their drinks, and their wine all on the table at the same time, or getting their check all at the same time as the coffee and deserts are served, but to my way of thinking, that's what I like in a diner or IHOP, not in a fancy restaurant. The waiter hovered so that when one of our party pulled out a credit card for the check, it was scooped up before the other couple had a chance to add their card to the pile. We literally had to call him back to the table.
This may be an isolated case, and I also know that there are lots of you out there who'd rather have an overly attentive waiter than a non-existant one. At $175 per couple, it shouldn't be either/or.

Moneyed middle-aged couples in search of an upscale dining experience spare themselves the trip downtown and head toward the Natick-Wellesley border to feast in elegant faux-palazzo environs. With dim lighting, velvet curtains and shimmering, illuminated pools of water, the restaurant's interior rivals those of the city's trendiest spots. Agreeable white-clad servers deliver audacious house cocktails made with ginger-infused vodka and fresh lychee.
The kitchen's Mediterranean-Asian cuisine may not sound alluring in theory, but after enjoying a tangy Indonesian noodle stir-fry followed by roasted duck breast with sweet marscapone polenta, diners agree that the execution is just fine. Taste buds are driven wild by the pho Max (spicy crab soup with shrimp dumplings and Thai basil) and a clay-pot lamb shank steamed to perfection. To finish, order the amazingly light pavlova with fresh berries and icy sorbet.
DONT ORDER THE BIG MAX RIBEYE!!!! RIPOFF - GRADE D MEAT IN MY MIND. GOOD SERVICE AND OVERALL FOOD QUALITY WAS FINE EXCEPT FOR THE RIBEYE (BIG MAX). IT WAS SIMPLY TERRIBLE!!!!! FOR $39 I WAS EXPECTING SOMETHING ON PAR WITH THE BOSTON STEAK HOUSES BUT THIS ONE WAS SO BAD THAT I DIDNT EVEN BRING IT HOME TO GIVE TO MY DOG!!!!

After easily parking your car close to the restaurant, you're made to feel welcome when you enter. The decor is pleasing, noise level low and the savory food served with elegance.
Splendid additions to the menu appear every week.
This restaurant deserves many accolades!

Very Impressed. All the other reviews are dead on. This place is outstanding. The service is better than even the top restaurants in Boston. The menu has some of the most creative flavor combinations I've seen, and so much I wanted to try! A little expensive but worth it for the quality you get (and Thursday prix fix menu is an excellent deal). Try the lychee martinis.
No reason to go to the City. Diamond in the rough. There is no reason to drive far when there is a restaurant like this in your backyard. I just recently moved to Natick, and this is by far one of my favorite locations in the Boston Area. If your looking for a Romantic hideaway or a place that will remember your name go to Maxwellws 148. The only bad thing about their menu is that, it's all so good you need to eat there more than once. The Wine List is above average, some of the wines are priced high, then others are priced just right.
"We're not in the Suburbs anymore....". All the ambience of a city restaurant with out the drive. The food is as good as it gets. I love this place. A sophisticated menu that is hard to choose from because all the dishes sound so appealing. The wine list is supurb and the staff very professional.
What a hidden gem in the burbs!. This is a restaurant that knows the meaning of the word service, and knows how to deliver food that is as surprising as it is delicious. Looking from the outside, you have no idea what is in store once you open the door. Do so and enter a true oasis of fine dining that you would normally expect only in New York or in some places in Boston. All three times I've been there, the food has been perfectly prepared and presented. And the wine selection is outstanding - hundreds of outstanding choices in all price points. I just got back from a trip to NYC and dinners at Jean-Georges, Nobu, and Mario's Babbo, and I feel like I've gone back when showing up at Maxwell's. And the fact that it saves me from having to find parking in Boston makes it my new favorite place.
