Worst bar in Boston. This place is a joke - never will I return. I highly recommend you visit someplace else.

Best Club Scene in Boston for Reasonable $. Sanctuary is my absolute favorite place to go on Friday night. Get there around 11:30 if you like to arrive when it's already busy. The cover is only $5 on the weekend!! They play all of today's top music, with plenty of dance remixes. The main floor is very social and crowded ("Earth" as it's referred to). The upstairs ("Heaven") is more of a lounge bar area and has a faux star-studded ceiling that looks down onto Earth's level. Finally, the below-ground level is a cavernous dance party ("Hell") - mirrored/rough-stone walls, full-service bar, dance poles, red lights and tons of air conditioning pumping all night makes this a great dance scene. If you're looking to have an awesome night that doesn't break the bank, try this place out. You will have a great time!

DO NOT EVER GO HERE!. My friend and I went here for the first time this past weekend. We were dumbfounded by the size of the club. Its long narrow Corridor of a floor was awful. It allows the place to get overcrowded way too easily. People tend to flock in the second floor (where the entrance is) downstairs was probably the best place to be in the whole building.

My friend and I grabbed a drink and sat down at a table to people watch. We were then taken aback by a guy who proceeded to do some sort of robot dance for us at our table.

We got freaked out and decided to venture downstairs where we were surrounded by Ginos, who felt the need to tell me how beautiful I was, THEN FARTED ON US, blamed it on us and ran away. That was the end of it for us. We ran outta there.

All the clubs in Boston are the same, they all play AWFUL music, attract awful people.. and is just plain awful.

Bad for conversation. I went over the weekend with a group of 16. It was nice that they were able to accomodate such a large group. The menu had a nice variety and it was tasty. I got the shrimp -- small, yummy and filling. If you order a salad, it might take some work. Some salads come with only huge pieces of lettuce that requires you to chop your own salad down. And if you ask for meat with your salad, they give you a huge slab, unsliced. We were upstairs and the music was so loud, I could barely hear the person next to me. Terrible for conversation. I asked to turn down the music in our area a couple of times to no avail. Service was slow but we had a really nice waitress. It took us forever to get our food and the food didn't come out at the same time. I'd probably go back to hang out but definitely not for dinner.

With its trendy lounge scene and wildly eclectic take on tapas, this stylish Financial District hotspot pleases area scenesters.. The Scene
Located within earshot of the Quincy Market area's countless Irish bars and "meet markets," Sanctuary's three stylish levels attract smartly dressed after-work crowds to drink and dine the night away. Suit-and-tie socialites stick to the ground floor's sleek bar to down designer drinks like white grape martinis, while those looking to dance head downstairs, where popular tunes are spun deep into the night. Friendly waitresses navigate the masses to deliver homemade sangria to roomy circular banquettes.

The Food
With its lengthy, ambitious menu of Latin-Asian infused dishes, the kitchen covers all the bases. Those looking for a quick snack have over 20 Tapas to choose from, including crisp crab fritters, fiery vindaloo calamari, and seared scallops wrapped in smoky Serrano ham. Colorfully titled big plates like the "Jamaican Me Crazy" chicken (kabobs of spiced chicken and roasted peppers, served with savory black beans and rice) offer a bit more sustenance.

Okay food, mediocre service. I just got home from dinner at sanctuary and am mildly annoyed at the service. The waitress took forever to come take our drink order, and also took forever getting us refills. She was relatively inattentive despite the fact that she had maybe two other tables. We had a gift cerificate so maybe she didn't expect a good tip? Also, while we were waiting for our check another couple came in and was asedto sit at the bar and waitwhile the hostesses stood there and stared at a booth that had been dirty for about 15 minutes... I guess they were waiting for a bus boy to com, although he never did. Our waitress bussed and reset the table while we sat waiting for our check.

On a positive note, try the thai shrimp dishwith lobster mashed potatoes, it was great. The taco are small but tasty, however the menu is misleading. It says they are served with pico de gallo, but in reality the red mush looked omore like pace salsa from a jar, goflavor but definately not the fresh omatoand onion mix I had expected. Also, for the lobster tacos, ask for extra mango salsa becasthey use it sparingly to say the least and the mango is not very flavorful.

Overall, the food was pretty good (definately worth it with the discount certificate we had) but I wouldn't pay full price. I imagine the service might be better if you didn't ave a discount and were ordering lots of drinks as the waitress would probably expect a larger tip...

Ok for people in their 20s.... This place can be very intimidating unless you are with friends. And, man, was it loud!! I tried talking to a couple of girls and they couldn't hear me at all. Come here to get drunk and dance. Conversation? Forget it. The bouncers were polite enough when I did a couple of "inappropriate" things (like sitting in a table that was reserved while waiting for friends to show up). Like I said, if you are an experienced night clubber, you will know the ropes. But if you are the kind of person who likes a (mostly) quiet bar, you will feel ill at ease here.

good for small groups. I checked out Santuary over lunch as a potential birthday dinner location for a group of 10 people. At lunch the food was a bit slow, cold, and the portions were small, but the flavors were inventive and tasty! The cuban sandwich was recommended and good, the Tuna salad was very delicious, as were the tempura shrimp lollipops, curry calamari and the sweet potato dumplings. The downstairs booths however, would only be big enough for a group of 5. We had the birthday dinner there anyway, and a kind bartender shoved some tables together upstairs. Everyone filled up on plates and plates of tasty tapas and drinks for about $25/person. It seems to be the perfect location for drinks after work or a group of up to 5 people. I wouldn't recommend it for dinner or a situation where conversation is important.

it's aighty. This bar is good on a friday or Sat night as i recommend sat night it seems more people come out to party.. One of the things i don't like is everyone seems to hang at the front of the bar and you can't get into the door, besides that it's okay.. If you go downstairs to dance prepare to sweat it is very hot could use more air down there..
