A Must Try. The Chef, Brian Poe, has created a unique menu that is very approachable. I had the grilled corn bread and the avocado and lobster. Both were fantastic. It's nice to see places that take chances with creating a fun, different menu rather than the usual modern junk people settle for these days. Love the roof top deck.
Poor customer service!. I had a really bad experience here. I was ultimately "cut off" at the bar while I was there drinking with 5 friends of mine. While I may have had a few drinks, I had shown no signs of being overly intoxicated. The bartender (a fat, sweaty, curly haired man) had been rude to me when I ordered drinks for my friends and I. I then saw that he went on to serve at least three other customers and had not started making my drinks. When I asked him if he was going to make my drinks he said "Not now I'm not" and proceeded to "cut me off," completely embarrassing me in front of my friends and everyone at the bar. Furthermore, when I attempted to speak to the manager about the situation, he was completely unsympathetic and arrogant. I will never eat/drink here again as a result of my experience. The place itself was not even that much fun
One Stop, Two excellent environments, Great Food.
Visited a couple times in the last few weeks and really liked the service staff we encountered, very prompt. The atmosphere of the main floor area is very warm thanks to the modern cherry wood finishing and colouring of the decour. You can sit out near the exceptionally long bar, or take a table a little further away for more privacy.
Had some very exceptional tasting and well plated entrees; but also some great sandwiches and appetizers for when we just wanted a drink. Bartender poured a great Martini.
The second floor 'urban canyon' rooftop patio, is a real treat. Stars for a ceiling and privacy on all sides - a very securing and comfortable spot to have drinks with friends.
Didn't get to experience the party room, yet.
Sensational Food! EVERYTHING is good!. I have come to the Rattlesnake yearly and this year the food blew me away! Bagged are the old nachos and bar fare. It's completely different- really good- damn near a gastro pub cuisine heaven. Even pleasantly surprised by the wines by the glass too. Maryanna, my server, was very knowlegable and friendly. 3 thumbs up!
it looks better than the pic shown here!.
typical bar food: wings, nachos, sandwiches, etc etc.
i'm not a tex-mex fan, but i go there for $5+ drinks (not beer, drinks!).
also, they have a balcony on the roof-top that's open in the warmer months. i have never seen that floor but i can imagine the nice view up there. good bar scene/crowd too, and those who like sports will appreciate their numerous flatscreens placed at strategic locations.
:)
This casual Boylston Street hangout offers drinkers and diners a serviceable, Southwestern-themed place to unwind..
In Short
The Rattlesnake's popular rooftop deck, street level dining room and bar, and second-floor bar (now known as Venom) are favorite hangouts for the Back Bay's after-work crowd. The plethora of TVs make this one of the neighborhood's prime game-watching spots. Many patrons are exiled smokers who have drifted in from the rooftop deck, where lighting up is permitted. Drinks and cuisine draw from a Pan-Latin menu (Costa Rican burgers, ahi tacos, veggie quesadillas).
Not a happy camper. Change the name, change the appearanceyet the poor quality of everything involved remains the same.
Great Drinks, Horrible Bouncers..... The bartender was excellent she was very attentive and cool. They made great strong mixed drinks and they're cheap too. My only issue with this place was the bouncer was a total jerk. My friend and I were talking to some girls that were throwing a bachelorette party, and the bouncer had the nerve to come up to us and tell us to back off!! We couldn't believe it, and neither did the girls. Needless to say he backed off, but still-come on!!
Most unfriendly service in the worst enfironment. Incredibly rude staff and uncomfortably warm insides made this a horrible experience. We had a company party there once and half way through a rude bouncer would not let us in the party room upstairs that we had paid for ... he wouldn't even give a reason!!! Could not find a manager .... no host to tell you how long to get a table .... warm beers .... avoid it at all costs
