Eat, Popa, Eat..... Aside from Pizzeria Regina in the "North End" and a few, true spots in the North burbs, this is as good as it gets for real Neapolitan style pizza, 200 mile northeast of Brooklyn. Famous Rays NY it ain't. However, it is not that greasy pan style pizza that is pawned off by Greek sub shop owners from Maine to RI. New England aside of the Italian enclaves is not known for pizza. This however, ever is good stuff, wood fired pizza ovens with a crispy crusts and hand kneaded dough...just they way momma used to make. Enjoy. Topping's are varied and all good but remember this is thin style mainland Italian style and it's really only made to support perhaps cheese and tomato sauce, try adding a mushroom or pepperoni only...otherwise it will fall apart. Mangi

Soggy crust, sparse toppings.. I tried this place out and thought that it was ok. It was definitely better than your mom and pop places, but I was disappointed when I ordered their veggie pizza, and the dough fell apart all through the middle of the pizza. The toppings were good, but I think that they must have been running out of things, as the toppings were very, very sparse. Overall, ok. Probably wouldnt recommend it, though.

Tasty, unusual designer pies distinguish this tiny West Newton pizza destination.. The Scene
An offshoot of two successful locations on Cape Cod, this tiny operation has become a MetroWest favorite for gourmet pizza. Many patrons come with intentions of devouring their pie straight out of the oven, but with only a handful of tables, most of the restaurant's business is takeout. Young, energetic pizza makers and an airy interior give the place a lively feel.

The Food
Sweet Tomatoes' continued success is a testament to its unusual approach to pizza: traditional red sauce is replaced by chopped, uncooked tomatoes, while the oil-free dough is rolled very thin, producing a thin-crust pizza with surprising heft. Pies come sans tomatoes ("white") or cheese ("red"), or in popular specialty varieties like chicken fajita and pesto splash. The only other items on the menu are large rectangular calzones and fresh Greek and Caesar salads.

Very good pizza, exceptional value.. A great pizza joint! I stopped by for a pie after work one day and I plan on making it a regular thing. It shouldn't come as news to anyone that the Boston area is hard-up for good pizza. Of course, Upper Crust is clearly the exception that proves the rule, and I must disagree with a previous reviewer who ranked ST's above UC in quality. Though I've only been to ST once, it's safe to say that UC's pizza is clearly superior both in quality of ingredients and execution. ST's is however by far the better bargain, with an 18 inch pizza starting at just around 16 bucks. The pizza also seem to be pretty healthy as pizza goes, with a light sauce and non-oily dough.

overall ST's is a very good pizza joint and an exceptional value. take a break from UC and give them a try.

The new ST's. The new location of Sweet Tomatoes offers one importand feature - more space. The same great pies are dished out here as in Newton Center, from the ordinary to to the extraordinary.

I'd recommend asking for a pie 'well done' for some extra crispy crust - especially during the pizza rush hour! ST's can be mobbed, so be prepared to wait on occasion.
