A Great Place to Eat.
My girlfriend and I eat here about twice a month and love it. Their sushi is always tasty and their service is good. What I like most about this place is its unpretentious atmosphere. I can go and be as casual or dressed up as I like and it still feels just right. The decor inside is very calm inviting.
If you are foodie and looking for a place to eat great sushi, kick back, and enjoy life, this is the place for you. Make sure you bring extra money cause you'll want to order everything off the menu just so you can try it.
Hidden Treasure Found!!.
My wife and I have been to many sushi restaurants in Boston and have not found one where we would go twice. However, after eating at Misono (recomended from my boss), we have been there countless amount of times and EVERY time is just better than the last. I normally dont write reviews, but I just want Boston to know about this place that is just not well known.
This restaurant offers the typical california roll, caterpillar roll, etc... and then on top of their extensive sushi list is one other Specials menu that lists about 15 special rolls. I highly recommend their Hurricane and Dynamite Roll. The different sauces and fish combination is just beyond your imagination. They use ingredients from taro (fried asian sweet potato) strings to cilantro to jalapenos to carapccio sauces. I've become a "known" regular now and their workers and chef's are just so easy, satisfying and so comfortable.
I highly recommend this place for a date or even with your kids. One night we went and there were many children near their fish pond... kodak moment.
Quiet, inviting Japanese restaurant straddles the West Roxbury-Chestnut Hill border and satisfies suburbanites' sushi cravings..
The Scene
Area couples skip nearby chain restaurant offerings and head to an unremarkable strip mall for fresh Japanese and Korean fare. Misono's dining room is awash in soft colors and usually provides an unassuming locale that's perfect for a quiet conversation. Pleasant servers ably explain the menu's more foreign items (Korean stir-fries, unique sushi offerings). Solo diners are well-served to grab a stool at the diminutive sushi bar and watch expert chefs slice away.
The Food
Misono's sushi, unquestionably fresh and reasonably priced, runs the gamut from the familiar to the offbeat. After starting with a refreshing California roll or spicy lobster maki, patrons often move right to lightly fried tempura or savory teriyaki dinners (served with rice and a light salad). Adventurous types are rewarded with bowls of Hwe Dup Bab, a spicy combo of noodles, rice and chunks of raw fish.
Delicious lunch Mondays-Saturdays. The lunch at Misnono is great. Their take out bento was well prepared and was set beautifully. The bento I bought had salad with ginger dressing, a special weekly side, salmon terriyaki with broccoli, and shumai. The shumai was crisp on the outside and the salmon didn't taste fishy at all. The Korean barbecue is also good. This deserves two thumbs up
Cheat on phone orders.
If you are placing an order over the phone, you are risking paying 3+ times more than expected.
At least verify the total price.
For instance, if you order maki combo, you might have to pay for 30-40 pieces party boat. That just happened to me.
When this cusomtomer called in, she asked for a party boat. We explained to her what was in the party boat PLUS gave her the price over the phone. When her husband arrived to pick this order up, he expected an order that was not in line with what his wife ordered. He also made a racist comment to us which was completely uncalled for. We are confident that we did not do anything wrong and we hope not to see this person again!
Sushi as Art....and it tastes that good too.. If you enjoy watching a true sushi artist, the sushi bar at Misono, where you can enjoy Oshino, the sushi chef, is the place to be. With the tilt of his head, he puts the final touches on your sushi-as-art. We have tried many Boston sushi restaurants and Misono is clearly the best for flavor and presentation. Try the Red Dragon Roll and the Spicy Scallop Trio. Oshinos Naruto is a thin-sliced cucumber roll with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crabmeat, fish roe, avocado, and spicy mayo. An original. With Oshino as your sushi god, and Chayan as your server, you've been three times blessded.
