Jo-Ann is Harsh. I went to Newbury Street Hair on Gallivan Blvd. Dorchester, Ma. for the 1st time and I will never return. The owner Jo-Ann Miller was rude, obnoxious, her language was uncalled for and she was very disrespectful. While cutting my hair she stopped several times to talk a man on the phone. After hanging up the phone she would yell and use the four letter word ***k . I was unable to leave as she was in the middle of doing my hair. It took me close too 2 hours for a haircut that should have taken maybe 30-45 minutes at the most. It was just wash and cut. During our conversations she told me all about her life. How she has a new man in her life, how she was fat but know is ***king away the pounds, that she has a room mate and he is not gay, that she has 2 dogs and so-forth. She has to be on something to act like this. I have never seen a worker, especially an owner of a store act in this way. She has no class, she has no idea how to talk or speak to customers, she is rude. I spoke to locals in the area and they actually laughed and said she was wacked. I went there because I checked the reviews and they seemed good, but if you have been there and dealt with the way she acts PLEASE write a review so others will know.

great great color and cuts. If you want a creative cut, or just a quick trim, have a spiky bob, or a classic layered cut, need some foils or or have serious old hair dye issues, go see JoAnn at Newbury Street Hair in Dorchester. I've been going to JoAnn for about 4 years and it's a great time, every time. Reasonable rates (JoAnn's cuts are $45, single-process color is $60, full foils are $110), a very relaxed atmosphere (no Newbury Street-type chit chat), lots of product available, and she really listens to you - I've gone from waist-length hair to a short choppy 'do in my four years, and whenever I feel like a change, she's right there on the same page. I change my color every so often, or add foils, and she always has awesome ideas. Educated, knowledgeable, super-creative, and a lot of fun.

small, funky shop but GREAT haircut!!. JoAnn is a fantastic hair stylist. I went in the first time because I had received a horrible haircut somewhere else and was looking for someone who might be able to fix it, though I didn't have alot of hope since it was pretty short. JoAnn thought about it, discussed my options, and proceeded to give me the best haircut I've ever received.

Don't let the outside of the shop fool you- it looks kind of funky, but it's well worth the trip!
