The Scene
Located just off the busy intersection of Harvard and Beacon streets, this narrow deli is designed for takeout: the small dining area seats all of 14. But the students and other Coolidge Corner denizens who brave the tiny space are rewarded with a quiet spot to enjoy stuffed cabbage and other standard deli fare.
The Food
After one bite of the deli's knishes, you may want to hug the driver that delivers these and other items from the Big Apple every day. (Try the Reuben, filled with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese.) Unlike New York's famous tourist-trap delis, prices are more than reasonable given the healthy portions: A carved turkey breast sandwich weighs over a half-pound and costs less than six bucks. Custom-baked rolls and sandwich breads are delicious. Complete your meal with comforting deli staples like dill-flavored red bliss potato salad, half sour pickles and Dr. Brown's sodas.

I am done.. with this joint..! I bought a sandwich and use my Credit Card, he marks the order so that the guys in the back give you less portions than if you use cash..! And he slammed my credit card on the table. If wanted to be abused, I would pay for it..at Durgins Park. No food is that good to be cheated..! I would rate this joint less than a star..

This is by far the best Deli I've ever seen. Over the years I've tried everything on their menu - their tongue sandwich is unbelievable, worth going back every week! Michaels has the most tender meats I've ever tasted, and their prices are more than reasonable. I used to go to Katz's in New York (Kat's is twice as expensive and comes nowhere near Michaels), and I also tried several other places in Boston, including Zaftigs. They make their own russian dressing with real pickles, and they buy their meats fresh every day. I think the major difference is that, although they give you a huge amount of meat by weight (they even sell half-sandwiches, one of which is enough unless you haven't eaten for three days), they put in the effort to slice it very, very thin - thinner than any other place I've seen, and that makes everything more tender and flavorful. Michael the owner is usually there every day greeting customers. I hear they cater too, although I never tried that.

Great selection of bagel spreads and sandwiches, and although they are a little on the pricier side they are all worth it. The pastrami is outstanding and so is the salmon dip. Great service every time I've been and the same goes for all of my male roommates.
