We like the atmosphere here. This is such a fun place to hang out and enjoy great times with friends and family. The food is awesome! I love seafood.

We had mussels for apps which were good. My bf had the fish special of the day, but was not too impressed. I had the Clambake, deterring from my favorite dish, Shack Bouillabaisse. The Clambake did not have the flavoring of the Bouillabaisse. Slight d

We went to Jasper's a few weeks ago. Our waiter was great, taking time to explain the day's catch. We ordered apps and dinner. Unfortunately, the cooks had lost our apps order. Our waiter noticed and offered complimentary desserts for the delay. While waiting for the apps, he also brought us clam chowder. Even though there was a problem with the apps, the situation was handled well by the waiter. Definitely impressed by their service.

This place may be a little pricy for budget conscious customers, the servings may not be huge and you may feel it's over rated but in my opinion, if you can afford just about any place, Jasper offers the best value and they have the right price for the quality. If you're bored by Legal seafoods corp ambiance, the lobsters in big tanks and steamers in this theme restaurant will make your out of town friends smile.

I only had the oysters and wine so my review is limited but what I had was great. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and expertly shucked, hardly a shell shard in them. The wine list was surprising for the location, there were a lot of excellent white seafood friendly wines to choose from. My oyster experience was better than Legal and almost as good as B&G.

Kitschy. It is kitschy, relatively inexpensive, and in a good location for locals and tourists. It is fun, not fancy, but they do starch their napkins, which is a nice juxtaposition to the decor. I do enjoy the clam chowder here, as it is more soupy than creamy with nice chunks of potatoes. I came here really only to have king crab leg and they were delicious; A tiny-tad over cooked but still tasty. The side of corn was surprisingly very nice and sweet as well. Our server was very genuine and personable.

Healthy fish. This was my last real meal in New England, and it was definitely a good way to say goodbye to Boston. An ample helping of seafood choices...all delicious, all fresh. I had the "be good to yourself" plate (includes a chef's selection of healthy fish over brown rice) which allowed me to pick of my family's dinners guilt free. We struggled to crack the 2lb lobster (my mom still has the scars on her hands), but it was all in good fun.

Sea food. I'm giving Summer Shack four stars for the AWESOME bartenders that really contributed to a great time here. For food I had a green salad with blue cheese. Now, the salad was totally fine, but, because, I love cheese, I was looking forward to some nice big chunks of blue cheese.

My "Go-To" for Seafood. I am a big Summer Shack fan, and have been going to both locations for years. I think this place is great – very good seafood in an unpretentious, fun atmosphere. A few things I really like:

-Ever-changing Menu: I love the multiple seafood specials written up on the chalkboard. Every day is a different menu depending on what’s fresh and available

-Fried Clams: I swear they used to taste better but they’re still very, very good, albeit a little dry. Delicious with good tartar sauce! Rhode Island style calamari counts here too.

-Great music: I know this sounds strange but the music is always good classic rock stuff. Plenty of fun songs you don’t hear every day. I’ll also point out I heard “Rock Lobster” at the Shack twice on two consecutive visits. It was weird and awesome at the same time.

-Fish: super fresh and prepared in a straightforward manner. Always good!

-Raw bar and liquor bar: both nicely done, with plenty of options. Great beer selection as well!

A couple things to complain about:

-Price: For a place with paper covering the tables, free balloons, and a bucket holding your ketchup, vinegar, salt, etc its kind of expensive. But its all in good fun and the food is top notch!

-Service: Can be inconsistent. I think the Shack has a tendency to hire younger (like high school/college-aged) wait staff and than can occasionally lead to ambivalent, inexperienced, or slow service. But overall its not BAD service, just inconsistent…probably the only inconsistent aspect of the Shack.

I consider the Shack a great place and rarely pass up a chance to go, I also always recommend it to friends and visitors to Boston who are looking for good seafood. Go Shack!
