Stay Away!!!

I recently used Ryder to move to South Boston, and thought it was great since there was a location right around the corner. In the past, I have used UHAUL and have had great success, but thought since I wouldn't have to go far to return the truck, I would try Ryder this time.

BIG MISTAKE.

After initial inconveniences when I went to pick up the truck (they couldn't find my reservation, then couldn't find the keys to the truck, which led to it taking over an hour to pick up the rental truck), the biggest problem I had was with leaving them my debit card number, which was required for the rental.

I am so glad that I checked my checking account information. What should have been about a $100 rental was charged to my card as $230. When I called to ask about this, the representative was very vague and rude. He told me those charges were right, because I had traveled 109 miles, when in fact, I had only traveed, at most, 30 miles! I explained this to him, and he told me he would refund my card. He was never able to give me specific information on how or why those charges were applied to my card. It is now a few days later, and I'm seeing another $53 charge to my account. I just called again, spoke to the same person, who was even more rude, and he just said, "Those amounts are right." Very frustrating.

And, to top it all off, Ryder is way more expensive than UHAUL.
