Buyer Beware. A painful experience. I'd rather have had my tooth pulled by my plumber with a large wrench without Novocain.

Don't be fooled by all the hype. My wife and I bought into their veneer of style and sophistication. The sleek showroom. The wine and Perrier served during design consultations. How civilized we thought. How first class. Were we in for a surprise!

Delivery and installation was promised 4 months after we placed our order on March 27, 2007. After a continuous string of design mistakes, product defects, dishonesty, deception and bad faith inferior solutions to fix the problems, 3 separate deliveries and 3 different installation attempts our kitchen was still not finished by August 2008. Check out those dates carefully. That's a full 16 months. A picture speaks louder than words. I have posted a photo of our kitchen taken August 10, 2008. Google: "arclinea kitchens buyer beware". ---

And Arclinea didn't even complete the kitchen. In the end it was completed by a local supplier - contractor.

If you are thinking of renovating your kitchen there are many places where you can go other than Arclinea to get a beautiful kitchen, at a better price, and not be treated unfairly. Don't let the Boston Magazine Best of Boston Award and their other advertising lures fool you. Saying it was as painful as a root canal wouldn't be fair to root canals. We wouldn't wish this experience on our worst enemy.

• Cons: Poor service & customer relations; design and manufacturing mistakes; expensive.

Exceptional Quality

When my wife and I decided to take the plunge and renovate our kitchen we wandered into Arclinea thinking we could pick out cabinetry there. We realized that it's actually a full service architectural firm?their staff are all architects who work with you from the beginning of the process right through the installation...they helped us understand how we could redesign our kitchen to make it more functional and have amazing materials. We included some stainless steel in our design but mostly a teak wood finish that looks amazing in our house, which is somewhat traditional. It's definitely on the expensive side, but we feel like it was a tremendous investment ? we love the kitchen now and will have it forever. (And it's much more comfortable to use... no overhead cabinets, everything stored in deep drawers and easy to reach.) Highly recommended!!

I was a little hesitant living in a traditional home to work with a contemporary project, but it turned out to be a very educational process for me. I shopped around and what I found generally was that most places had "designers" that sold "cabinetry" boxes but never really gave me good space design solutions. My kitchen isn't huge so I needed the insight. The architectural expertise and design sensitivity I found here was incredible. My place changed dramatically. I can work a lot more efficiently, with less clutter and with amazing technology and materials. At very least it is worth a visit to see what you actually CAN do... an incredibly elegant and innovative product.
