Editorial Review for Redline – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Black-clad waiters and bartenders scurry about the handsomely decorated (dark wood tables, leather banquettes, warm lighting) dining room. Tables out front offer a limited view of busy JFK Street. Expect a straightforward menu of upscale bar snacks and standard entrees. Appetizers are good and large enough to share; bruschetta includes an endless pile of fresh tomatoes, while the marinated beef salad features lime- and ginger-soaked steak over cold lo mein noodles and roasted peppers.

i used to really like this place but it is sooooooo done now. (1) it smells reminscent of old basement/sewage (2) went on a friday night and the dj was atrocious. not only was the music bad but he had NO skills - i.e. huge scratching noise and then silence in between songs. and he has a nasty attitude problem too. (3) bouncers have attitude problems too. hello- its harvard square people! --- one good thing- the bartenders are all really nice but even they cannot save this place. it has deteriorated beyond the point of salvation. heed my advice- do not go there.
Pros: good location
Cons: bad atmosphere and bad bad dj

I've worked in the square and lived in Cambridge for a few years now, and I can tell you that Redline is a good place to grab a drink and chat with the friendly barstaff. I'm on a first name basis with virtually every bartender there, they are not overbearing, very nice and genuine. The place looks good, darkly lit with a couple plasmas and a decent dance floor. The food is surprisingly good and well presented. I'd go any night except Thursday, not my crowd, and too loud. Rarely disappointed here.
Pros: staff, lighting, windows
Cons: Thursday night, a little pretentious
