Terrible customer service, great selection, great service plan (with many caveats)
by iamnotanorange at Citysearch
Best buy doesn't sell many iPod competitors, especially the iRiver (large one, not 500MB), which had real potential. They always wait several months after a product is released to sell it, this is to clear out their stores of the older product. It is unfortunate, but there is usually a layover time when people are paying full price for an outdated product.
Their 4 year service plan is excellent, but there are many pitfalls along the way. Expect consistant lying at service desk. They will make things up, so have your service plan in front of you. There is also some difficulty of interaction between the web site and the store. Everytime I go there is a wait , so I plan my day around the waiting when I need some service or to ask questions.
Other than that they have a good selection of movies and hardware. Just don't believe anything that the staff says, most will say anything to get you to leave them alone. The internet is much faster and more reliable, so research before you go into the store. Woe is the casual, impulsive shopper.
