“The soup was good, the service was friendly e.”
“nice neighborhood place to go with friends and family.”
“My worst service experience to date.”
Quiet neighborhood place with great food and modest prices. Always a good meal at Lam's and we often find other neighbors either already there or coming in after we are seated. Smiling and immediate attention from the Thai waitstaff. Kevin is from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and the menu is a mix of interptetations of various Southeast Asian specialties. The hot and sour shrimp soup can be a meal in itself. We go there often.
Lam's Vietnamese & Thai food. I love Lam's. It is my neighborhood restaurant and I go there very often. I always take my relatives and friends there. The food is delicately flavored and healthy. My favorites are Oriental Salmon and Lemon Grass Beef. Their brown rice is unusual and perfect. The staff are warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. The service is impeccable. I have never experienced a delay in receiving my order. Kevin, the owner, is visible, present, and connected to all come. I have catered parties with Lam's delicious selections, always to rave reviews.
My worst service experience to date..
My first review of any restaurant - I am appalled by last night's experience. I was so excited to find a place near my work that served pho, and I ordered the beef pho. What arrived at my table was a bowl of American-style beef broth with chunks of beef and celery - yes, celery. No basil, no bean sprouts, no lime...after picking out the celery I tried it and it tasted nothing like pho.
I asked the waitress if I could order something else as I was not expecting the type of "pho" that came to me. After hesitating and, at first, saying no, she then said I could order another dish but I'd still have to pay for the "pho." I asked to speak with a manager and she refused to have him come to my table, but instead told me to get up, go into the back of the restaurant, and speak with him. The manager tried to tell me that what I was eating was pho, and I must have no idea what pho is. After some argument (I eat pho several times a week - pretty sure I know what pho is), he oh-so-graciously allowed me to choose something else, but told me no less than four times that I would NOT be allowed to return that dish. I told him I understood, selected another dish from the menu, and while I stood at his counter he then read to me what I had selected, ingredient by ingredient, to make sure I understood what I was ordering and understood that I was paying for it.
Second dish was ok. Never going back.
Pan-Asian eatery provides Newtonville residents with a quiet, casual spot for fresh, cheap eats..
In Short
Area families pop into Lam's modestly appointed dining room to share plates of affordable Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Among starters, steamed spicy chicken dumplings and satay sticks prove popular. Entrees include lemongrass chicken, stir-fried salmon with black beans and sweet pad Thai. Lunchtime patrons fill up with steaming bowls of pho or stir-fried noodle dishes.
Delicious Thai & Vietnamese!. Lam's has the most delicious dinners. Don't be swayed by the not so flashy outside or inside. The food is authentic and so flavorful. A nice neighborhood place to go with friends and family. The staff is friendly and attentive. GREAT food.
