Good People, Good Service

Contemporaries provides a service that is increasingly difficult to find in today’s economy. Unlike other temp agencies that will bring you in for an informational interview, then leave you guessing as to when and if work will be available, Contemporaries places you immediately into open positions. The agency is vigilant not only about finding you work quickly, but also about keeping you consistently employed. In my case I was called shortly after I submitted my resume, and have not gone a day without employment since… truly a service that is difficult to find.

Because Contemporaries clients range from universities to law firms, there are always an abundance of desirable positions available that have the potential to become permanent. The friendly staff are not only accommodating, but are genuinely interested in helping people prosper and make the transition to becoming permanently and gainfully employed. Donna, the director is very nice and very well connected with the job market in the Boston area. She is not only able to provide employment, but also to assist you in building valuable networking skills that will benefit you when attempting to enter into your desired field of work. Tuoyang, the coordinator is one of the most well organized and efficient people I have worked with. By keeping in constant communication with me throughout the temp process, he made me feel as though I had someone professional and reliable to act as a liaison with prospective employers.

A foot through the door and a future

Being from Boston, I thought finding a job in the city would be no problem. But, after coming back from college, I found the economy and job market a disaster.

I had a really hard time finding a job on my own. I worked with many temp agencies who had tried to find me a position, but it wasn’t until I went to Contemporaries, Inc., that I found my perfect match.

Donna not only went out of her way to help place me in the right job, but she also guided me through the first month of my assignment, making sure I was going to succeed. The job, incidentally, is at a company where I had sent my resume to more than a year ago, but heard absolutely nothing back. Recently, they offered me a full time, permanent position. If you need a foot through the door and a job that you can plan a future with, I’d recommend contacting Contemporaries. They made my ideal job a reality.

Super dependable and friendly

I’ve worked with two other agencies in the Boston area over the past year, and I have to say, Contemporaries has been the one constant I could depend on. I’ve worked with them for about 4 months, and I haven’t missed an assignment. The other two I’ve worked with sent me on day assignments and didn’t have anything for me for 2-3 weeks. So Contemporaries’ priority is really focused on keeping me working, since I haven’t missed an assignment since I’ve been working for them.

Donna’s an especially awesome lady. She really took the time to explain to me how things worked, and never led me on about things. Not only that, she took the time to personally counsel me on my career path, and helped strategize with me on how to approach a startup. I’m looking at going perm with them, but in the meantime, Contemporaries is keeping me working steadily.

Really? Very Selective (in a bad way)

Unfortunately this company, which used to be the best of Boston, has been struggling to survive and treat prospective temp employees like pawns in their money game. Sadly they use people when they are hot and earn lots of $, and ignore those same people who held their back when they find a new crop of fools willing to work for less. Have worked with this operation over the years and the pay scale has plummeted from north of $20 to the flat $10 per hour range. Call in, they tell you to call every morning at 7am, or there will be nothing. Ask for a call back if you are on their "hotlist" and they do so. Not on their hotslist anymore - never, ever, a call back.

Summary: They were the best of Boston, but not they are barely almost maybe a survivor in Boston. Don't believe the hype. Don't believe everything they tell you. Truth be told...

Back to Work befor I knew it.

I had worked with Contemporaries 12 1/2 years ago when I first got out of college and it was a very positive experience.

Whe I got laid off on a Tuesday and didn't know where to turn first. I had actually been looking for a new job for several months so my resume was ready to go.

I thought back to when I had gotten out of college and called Contemporaries. Not only did they remember me they had me come in the next day and I was on an assignment by Monday.

Some of my friends who've been out a while were shocked that it was so quick, I just tell them to call Contemporaries and get back to work.
