Great value. We go to Comella's for takeout pretty often and recommend it to anyone living in the area- it's delicious, homemade, and affordable. We order from there anytime we are in the mood for Italian and don't want to cook.

Ignore bad review above. I live around the corner from Comella's, close enough to have tried a lot of their food, and also close enough to see the crowds they get. So the user giving this a bad review must have come on a bad night, or not be a fan of Italian. Comella's messes are delicious, everything is fresh, and the service is young but friendly. A great spot to grab a bite before hitting West Newton cinema or for quick takeout.

Avoid it. The food was terrible; it was bland, tasteless, and was the equivalent of being out of a can. The service was pathetic - they had no interest in serving the customer. I was disappointed, I had hoped for more. I will go elsewhere next time.

Standing in stark contrast to the Olive Gardens of the world, Comella's tiny storefront churns out lovingly made piles of Italian fare, made from old-school family recipes. Those piles, referred to as "messes," combine whatever's in the kitchen (usually a savory combo of lasagna, eggplant, pasta and meat). Dishes come in three sizes: single (enough for two diners), half-bucket (four) and bucket (eight). Besides homemade pastas and sauces, there are fresh salads and hot sandwiches available.
