good cocktails, cozy (small) space. City-Bar is actually much smaller than I had expected. The location is good and the atmosphere is comfortable. There's a good amount of seating considering the bar's size, and the bar serves some very tasty specialty cocktails. There's not much to look at in terms of interior design since there are no windows (one can only stare at the glowing sketch of the esplanade for so long). It is a good place for conversation. It doesn't get too crowded, but it seems like there are a good number of people on weekends and weekdays.
drink oasis. great place for drink (lots of first dates here, would guess) - hipper than vox - less euro than armani - and you can actually hear yourself talk (as well as the person you're talking to). bar food is surprisingly good, tapas-ish, but if you're looking for sliders or buffalo wings go across the street to Uno's.
A FANTASTIC NIGHT OUT. I had so much fun with my friends at City Bar. The appetizers and drinks are excellent. The food was really tasty. The Bar Service was great. I highly recommend the Martinis here. Our Bartender was really friendly and nice too. I will for sure go back again. It was alot of fun here!
A Boston Hot Spot. This bar is an excellent hotspot in Boston. The decor is beautiful. An elegant place so therefore dressing up for this place is a must. The place is excellent for dates or hanging out with friends. The martinis are the best I've had in Boston. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an intimate place to hang out with friends or that special someone. Very Highly Recommended.
User review by tbutwin. Went to city bar on a saturday night. Great martinis. Get there early because it is small but great place for couples. Will definitely go back.
Pricey, but worth it. I'm always on the lookout for new lounges in Boston, and City-Bar is miles above the rest. It's very small, but intimate, not too crowded. Drinks are great, good size. A little expensive, but it's worth it in a great bar like this.
CityBar. I am a bartender in Boston, and have been for over 10 years. City Bar is a top quality, stylish, hip bar with great drinks and fantastic music, and one of Boston's Best Bartenders. It is just on the verge of becoming the best lounge in Boston, and already has a huge following, get there early to get a seat at the bar and watch the bartenders shine.
Nothing like it in Boston. Haven't found anything like it in Boston. City Bar is sophisticated yet comfortably casual. The people I see there are very cool but not posers and the drinks and food are some of the best I have ahd at any bar in the city. I guess thats because the chef from Azure next door does all the cooking for City bar too. What a fantastic addition to The Lenox and my nightlife!
Good spot. Smooth, chill, friendly, attractive people, good drinks and best of all... no meat heads. I love it.
Great decor, at a price. There's no knocking City Bar's decor - from the oversized leather chairs to the great lighting, this is a place that (subtly) screams out elegance and sophistication. Probably the best place around for a pre- or post- dinner drink with a date; it's sure to impress. The drinks are OK - the bartender got the sugar on the Sidecar right, but the drink was only so-so; he skipped on a couple of the ingredients. Fine in a busy or non-"upcale bar"; however, for a $12 drink on a slow night, I guess I expected better. Take that criticism for what it's worth - one drink does not a bar make!
