Editorial Review for Jalisco Mexican Restaurant – by Michael Longshore and John Kress
The Scene
Strategically nestled near the Baskin Robbins, humble Jalisco garners special mention for being one of the first Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. The restaurant has grown up with the neighborhood, and the folks who came here as children are back with children of their own, making this a family destination. Speedy service and bright yellow walls adorned with Mexican knickknacks should keep even the most restless kids content.
The Food
You won't find anything even approaching exotic on the menu, but basics like tacos, enchiladas and burritos are all well represented. It's advisable that you stick with the simpler dishes. For The the more adventurous, there's the carnitas dinner with pork tips and a side of beans and yellow rice. With an ample a la carte menu and a child's plate available, it's the ideal place to introduce the next generation to a proper Friday night tradition.

All you need to know about this place is the salsa is delicious (and badass spicy) and the food hits the spot if you're craving mexican food. You can read below to the reviews below that nitpicks the service, the wait time, and the lack of margaritas if you want but why? It's all contradictory. The service is "bad" because they try to get people in and out so the "wait" isn't that long. You don't have to let them rush you. And so what if the check is put in front of you before you're done eating - I, personally, like having it right there when I scrape off the last bit of the delicious salsa from the bowl and am ready to go. But that might just be me. You may like trying to flag down busy servers asking for your check (as they try to rush people in and out of their dinners).
Pros: Deliciously Spicy Salsa
Cons: Can be crowded, have bad service, and a long wait - but name a good, small restaurant that doesnt.

I know this place has been here for 29 years so they must be doing something right.... but the service is horrible. I like to eat my food and possibly order another drink before the check is put in front of me (it practically came with the delivery of the food). The server never returned to the table after that ... not even to bus the dirty plates we were finished with. The food is okay.. but I much prefer El Azteca just down the street and not in a strip mall. Not worth the 30 min wait to get in.
Pros: decent food
Cons: crowded, bad service, no margaritas!
