Editorial Review for Sushi of Naples – by Martha Burr

The Scene
Always packed with sushi-loving masses, this beloved restaurant offers fabulous fish, as well as a wide array of cooked dishes for less adventurous diners. Weekends can be loud and raucous, which doesn't intimidate the excellent service one bit.

The Food
Known for excessive portions, this restaurant's Dynamite appetizer--a hot melange of clams, scallops and mushrooms in velvety bechamel--can feed up to four. The special rolls, also super-sized, are works of glorious art. Especially the dragon roll, a decadent combo of raw fish and avocado wrapped in sweetly glazed eel. If you must, smaller portions are available at the sushi bar, particularly if you order sashimi. Tuna slicked with garlic and ponzu is a knockout, yellowtail is extremely fresh, but daily specials are the real catch. Don't miss the pompano--first as nigiri, followed by its crispy, irresistible deep-fried skin.

Wow! Seriously delicious, not kidding. Everything was perfect and we loved how the restaurant incorporated it's location in the menu. The Pasadena rolls are great! Sushi was fresh and the California rolls were amazing. The service was friendly and pleasant. The tempura vegetables were a bit greasy and the sorry salad was not necessary. I also don't think that french fries should be on the menu.

Pros: Great location, great sushi, great rolls, friendly staff

Cons: greasy tempura vegies, weak salad

We with my wife have been customers of the above named establishment for over 5 years. Although the overall level of service kept declining over the last 2-3 years we decided to give them yet another chance as the quality of food used to be OK. (Although has never been good value for money.) This time we were unable to get a glass of water each (got one glass only), took 3 attempts to get a menu (one for two of us), got whatever we never ordered 2 times (!!!), and NEVER got what we actually ordered. Even worse, our server refused to take orders from the menu saying that whatever we selected was either not available or available for only twice (!!!) the price shown on the menu. We tried to talk to a manager who hardly speaks English. (Part of the problem must have been the same with the server.) When we decided to leave and give up they made us pay for a $10.95 +tax item we actually never received.

Pros: Not much anymore

Cons: Service, attitude, food
