Amanda Johnson -colorist. Amanda has been taking care of my color and glosses for almost seven years. I have lived in Boston for twenty years and have never been so happy with a my hair or stylist. I have long brown hair with some grays in it and she has kept it fully covered, shiny, and VERY healthy! I frequently get compliments on my hair and people are always surprised when I tell them it's been treated. I have five close friends who also see Amanda and they are ALL long haired blondes. They're color is as all natural as can be and each is glow-y, healthy, and perfectly suited to her face . We all have different lifestyles - social, philanthropy, working mom, and stay-at-home. No matter, Amanda keeps all of our hair looking pretty, we feel great, and we all love her. Amanda is smart, fun, very talented, and very knowledgeable about her work. Jonathan DeMar is back!!. So happy to see Jonathan DeMar and Tim Kelley are back on Newbury Street. Two spiffy guys with loads of talent. I moved from Swampscott to Brookline and must have tried 3 or 4 hair salons. None felt right, or knew how to cut hair that matched my face and age. Then, I lost my hair due to chemotherapy. When my hair came back it was a bit different and I didn't know what to do with it. I saw a lady at my church who always has a beautiful cut and color. She gave me Jonathan's number. He was great with my 1" curly greyish hair and four years later, great with my beautiful shoulder length blonde silvery hair. Also a nice guy to gab with and ALWAYS on time. Yes, a hair dresser who is on time too!

Amanda is a great colorist. Amanda colors my hair and she does a great job blending my natural color with face framing highlights. I always love my hair when she does it. Not only that, but she is the most cheerful, happy person, and I love catching up with her while she does her thing. Mario Russo is a great salon because it isn't stuffy like many other places on Newbury (or in the Mandarin Oriental). Everyone is so friendly and helpful that works there.…

They saved my hair ! Truly amazing staff !. I went into Mario Russo's after my usual hairdresser made a major coloring mistake in my home town in Western Mass. I heard about this salon through a friend who drives an hour and a half to get her hair done. I was extremely nervous to let anyone touch my hair as my last color caused so much breakage and loss of hair I thought I would have to let my colored blond look go and take a year off with my natural graying color. UGH. To say the least I was nervous and apprehensive about letting a complete stranger have a go. Within moments of walking into Mario Russo's I started to feel calm and confident that I had chosen a professional, creative salon. Heidi spent a half an hour just talking to me to get an idea of my hairs history, feeling and touching the hair to determine texture, damage, analyzing and generally coming up with a course of action. I sat back and let her do whatever she thought best. The result was amazing. Not only did she treat me with kid gloves, her knowledge of what chemicals would be safe to use on my severely damaged broken hair as well as treatments done in salon and a program for what products to use daily at home. That was 3 months ago. I've since returned for my second color and I have to say my hair has never looked so beautiful, so natural and the best part it looks so healthy, shiny and full of body that I am complimented daily on my hair. I also have to comment on the cutting staff. Michael was equally creative and attentive to my style on that first visit. I had major breakage on the top of my scalp and my bangs had completely broken off. He created a lovely haircut that accented my features and hid the damage. Michael Your the Best !!! My second visit to the salon happened to be Michaels day off so I was referred to Leah. I was ready to maybe be a bit disappointed because Michael was so fabulous but was enormously pleased with her approach to her craft and the blowdry was so gorgeous I had to go out after a 2 hour drive home just to show off my gorgeous hair. What can I say? I love love this salon ! Mario, thank you for your incredible team of professionals, you've saved my hair ! I've already brought along a friend who needed serious help with her hair and she is estatic with her results. Truly 5 * service! Highly recommend !…
