specialty drinks. typical bar food, with variations (ex. garlic fries, mini turkey burgers). my friend claims she has the BEST grasshopper here. i personally like to try out their long list of specialty cocktails, which get changed seasonally.

Absolutely horrible experience. My experience was like cbinboston. Was in with wife and another couple from out of town. Flashes was recommended to us for a casual drink. Went on Friday night to a nearly empty bar and experienced absolutley horrible service. Only was aknowledged by the server each time my friend got up to approach the bar on his own. Needless to say the server rec'd a light tip. Despite this experience we went back again on Sat night only becasue close proximity to our hotel. I cringed when I saw we had the same server again. This time we sat in a sofa area at the front of the bar. We were again ignored. We finally got service and after a couple drinks the waiter abruptly showed up with 4 glasses of water and told us we were cut off for being too intoxicated. This is after 2 cocktails. The manager said he did not need to give us an explanation and he could decide who he would/would not serve. We were not obnoxious or exhibiting inappropriate behavior for a bar. We were happy to be out and singing along with the music and talking no louder than anyone would in a bar. We were dressed reasonably fashionable (better than most) and in our 30's. Not sure if the treatment was because we didn't fit a desired profile. We spent $80 on the first 2 rounds and were ready to spend away so it doesn't seem to be a smart business decission. Horrible experience!!

Rude, rude, rude.. I have gone to Flash's on numerous occasions and had a very nice time, but in the past month I have been there twice and I will never go back. On both occasions we were well behaved and not causing any trouble, but the bartenders give us the snottiest attitude I have ever experienced.

Last night I went to Flash's and had about 6 friends with me. We arrived around midnight and stayed until closing. After 30 minutes two friends joined us. They were sober and well-behaved. They ordered a pair of beers and when those were done, they ordered two more. The bartender looked at one of them and refused to serve him. My friend objected, at which point the bartender apologized, saying that he had mistaken my friend for someone who had caused a bunch of trouble in there a week or so before. A while later when another friend tried to order a beer, he was shut off, though he was acting normally, not intoxicated. Later, my firend who is kind of loud and super outgoing was being very dramatic and a bit too loud (but not intoxicated) was told to keep her voice down by an older woman behind the bar (manager?) and subsequently had her drink taken away from her as she was told "you have had enough". In the next few minutes, a final drink order was refused and I demanded my tab. While signing my check, two other people in my party had their drinks taken from them while they were at the bar.

In summary, none of the members of my group were acting out, causing trouble or giving the management a hard time in any way. None of us was overly intoxicated, falling down or behaving in a manner that would suggest that one had too much to drink. I find the service at Flash's to be some of the worst I have ever encountered, I won't go there again and I will encourage my friends to do the same.

It isn't just the martinis that are retro; prices are also from a bygone era.. The Scene
The martini-bar setting absorbs the South End/Back Bay crowd comfortably, with a lengthy wooden bar and bar tables. Service is attentive, even when things get busy.

The Food

Pay no heed to the menu's claim to "tapas," which should denote mini-plates. Instead, these dishes are full-sized affairs--enough to fill one adult for dinner--and undeniably cheap. Upscale comfort food predominates the menu. Witness the pulled pork sandwich with apple ketchup and revel in the exquisite example of yin-yang tastes--the sweet-salty balance is that spot-on. And don't miss the cookie of the day; it ranges from chewy chocolate chip to soft, cinnamony oatmeal versions.

Quite Good. I really enjoyed my experience at Flash's. The steak was out of this world! Outstanding! It was an after work crowd and I'm not reallya drinker so I din't experience the bar scene nor the single crowd. Overall, I enjoyed my experience.

I LIED FOLKS!. Their absolutely right about the Bar Tenders - they are so rude! You also feel rush to leave rather than buy another drink. I gave a great review the first time I went there. I have to admit I was one of the liars. My apologies all!!!! It was a mirage the night I went. Second and Third time around I was in for a rude awakening. Music was so un-hip. Bar Tenders with Attitude!! Who needs that crap when you've had hard day at work! I recommend going to Clergy's were you can drink til you want to and nobody makes you feel like rushing out the door!!!!
