Not worth it!. This restaurant is an embarassment to the Ritz name. All that it lived up to was the high price. We ordered very good martinis, but after the bartender made them, it took another 10 minutes for our waiter to serve them. The menu was lackluster, without very many interesting food choices. We settled on the mussels, which were large and plump, but the broth was diluted and weak. The scallops were large and good quality, but were paired with plain, bland mash potatoes. The skirt steak was good, but served with rosemary french fries that made the experience very pub-like. After ordering a $64 bottle of red wine (complete with screw cap), the waiter said the year was wrong and they spent another 20 minutes looking for the correct year. Finally after our meal was 2/3 completed, we gave up on the bottle of wine and the waiter gave us wine by the glass, which was oxidized and undrinkable. The cheese course had grocery store cheeses, and some rubbery dried apples on it. The experience was not very pleasant, and far too overpriced for the quality of the food and level of service (about $90/each). There are too many other good restaurants in downtown Boston to waste your time here.

Editorial Review. The Ritz's handsome in-house dining room serves classic American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Great food but horrible service. It took the food a whole hour to arrive: in the wrong order: our main course came first, followed by our crab cake appetizer, followed by our SOUP! It was truly ridiculous. We also had to remind the waiter THREE TIMES to bring out the soup. He apologized later, but it was so unprofessional. Then the waiter spilled soup on my flats when taking it away. It got pretty comical at that point and I even believed I was on one of those reality shows where they annoy patrons and see how they react. The prices are steep, so we expected good service, but this was by far the worst service I've ever seen in a restaurant. The food was pretty good, but the experience was truly spoilt by the unbelievably bad, untrained service. I wouldn't recommend it, unless they miraculously change their staff.

The bar.... I've never gone to the actual restaurant, only the bar which I love. The standard bar menu is a sampling of the restaurant menu, but you can get and order from the restaurant menu too. The service is very professional and the crowd is 30 and 40 year-olds with money. It's a good spot to have an after-work drink, or meet people when you want to be able to actually hear what they are saying. I disagree, obviously, with another reviewer who called it un-hip. It's hip enough. Someone I took there recently on a Friday night said it had a "new york feel." But that is hipness in the "I'm successful and not a kid anymore" sense, not the twenty-something find-a new-friend sense. The food, incidentally, could be a little more adventurous, but it is good.

worth mentioning. loved the salmon at the restaurant upstairs, but setting is catered towards an older crowd. however, don't bother with the food at the bar downstairs as i had lunched there as well. get a glass of Pinot Grigio as it was thoroughly tasteful.
