Great place!!. I've definately had my share of bad hair experiences - I'm originally a brunette and decided to go blonde years ago. Impulsively, I dyed it all brown and hated it!! I was looking around for a salon to fix it and my friend told me about Highlights on Newbury.

I met with a stylist named Adil who told me that it would not be an easy fix. He explained that if I were to bleach it, my hair would become extremely damaged and fall out. After a couple visits, I finally have blonde hair and roots again and my hair is healthy and shiny! I'm so glad that my friend suggested this place!

I appreciate how Adil cares about his clients, not just making money. Everytime, his friendly service made me feel at ease when I was incredible nervous! I hope you all try it out and I'm sure you will have an excelllent experience!

ADIL- best hair dresser in boston. i have lived in boston for over 26 years and have been to every salon in and outside of the city, but a few years ago i finally have found the best hairdresser in the area- ADIL at highlights on Newbury St.

With his flexible hours he always is making himself available for his clients. knowing of his hair dresser mentors he has become VERY skilled with cuts, blowouts and coloring- so you are getting very high-end results for MORE THAN HALF THE PRICE that other salons charge.

i am always happy when i leave Highlights- get exactly what i was promised. i recommend everyone making an appointment with adil- i promise you will love the results as well!

bad service, poor quality. I've never had a worst customer service experience in my entire life. I went there once and plan to never return again and would strongly recommend no one go to this salon. The girls there are full of attitude, poor management, and my hair was to say the least-- not professionally done.

I was there to pick up my girlfriend for dinner after she just had her hair done by a very friendly young Stylist who gave katia a fashionable haircut and an great highlights the only down fall to that is how she wouldn t stop talking about it the entire time we were having dinner..and the best part is after dinner we decided to go dancing and we found our hairstylist there at the door promotting for that club and took care once again of us like if we were long times friends ... so i had to write a little thank you note for a great time i had that day ........

Their color services are really good too. Ive gotten my hair done their at least 8 times and everytime i was very very happy with the results. They are trendy and hip and up to date with the latest hair trends. I recommend this salon to anyone to wants amazing hair.

Bad treatment. I had been going here for two years but lately the place as become disorganized and unfriendly. After making an appointment I showed up on time and the stylist told me that another client had come in and would I mind waiting for half an hour. I wasn't happy but decided it was better to wait than to make a new appointment there or anywhere else. I went on an errand and showed up again 30 mintues later. At which time they washed my hair and sat me in a chair for 15 mintues. While I waited the stylist told me "your hair doesn't look that long." Since it was clear they dind't want my buisness I left. Only after I had my jacket on and was heading to the door did I get an apology and at no time did they acknowledge that they had wasted my time. On the previous appointment there I was again bumped from the sytlist with whom I had made the appointment, and someone else was recruited to do the cut. This person was either inexperienced or perhaps untrained since the scissors shook in her hand as she made the cut. I recommend you find a place that takes their customers seriously.

Salon Perfect Hair in 10 Minutes A Day!. After trying a few stylists in Boston, my worries were over when I found Mark Giuliano, owner of Highlights Salon. My hair used to require daily drying with a round brush and use of a flat iron. Mark cut my hair and gave me a Japanese hair straightening treatment. My hair is so shiny, so straight, and so beautiful. I don't have to worry about rainy or humid days anymore and my hair only takes 10 minutes to dry using my hands! No more round brushes or flat irons. I save an hour each day and have more time to do other things and my hair is nicer than it's ever been. Check Mark out for your next cut, color, or treatment. You will be happy and tell him Katie sent you.

Terrible, awful job on my hair. I paid $200 to get my hair colored there and it was a disaster. I came in with a picture of what I wanted (light to medium chestnut brown) and they tried to talk me out of it by telling me I'd look great with red hair but I put my foot down and chose the color I wanted. My particular stylist seemed ver y new to the field as he kept on running off to ask questions but I felt like I was in good hands because the owner was overseeing. I don't know if it was because of my stylists inexperience or they decided to disregard the color I wanted but it turned out a brassy orangey maroon if you can imagine. To be honest it looks like clown hair and the fact that it's so awful would be funny if it hadn't been so expensive. They should've paid me to have their novice experiment on me. The wierdest part is that the owner kept on coming over to say how great it looked while I tried not to cry. All I can say is don't go there if you value your hair.

Cuts hair well, but service is bad. I've had my hair cut by two different stylists. They're both good stylists.

The service is below average. I was getting my hair dyed and cut. She was about 30 minute late to the appointment and she was in a bad mood. She didn't listen to me when I asked her to do things instead said, "okay can I finish what I'm doing first?" She even broke a brush in my hair, because she was in a bad mood. All of a sudden she started to restock and stopped doing my hair. I'd say say an extra $5 and go somewhere else.

Very Standard. My color was ok, but the shampoo girl was complaining about her work. I read the last review, and this seems to be a recurrent problem, and it's uncomfortable. I don't want to pay huge amounts of $$$ to counsel/listen to upset young women.
