My wife and I went there because we had a discount coupon from an event we attended. The place looked nice and we thought we would be in for a great evening. My wife was debating between the clams and the lobster ravioli. The waiter suggested the clams (apparently more expensive than the ravioli). When her meal came, we were shocked at the paucity of clams. if there were 10, I would be surprised. I raised this with the waiter who offered to get her more. My wife demurely declined. He then offered her another glass of wine. We expected that it was complimentary given our complaint about the clams. It wasn't. The clams also were not very good.
As for my meal, the "Haddock Chatham, Mass.", it tasted fine but it was lacking the lobster stuffing that was supposed to accompany it.
I loved my clam chowder. My wife, on the other hand, was a bit uneasy. If you go, make sure you ask if they checked to make sure the clam shells are removed. They are not a good substitute for the lack of clams in the chowder
Horrible Service-Never going there again!. My boyfriend and I came for a quick dinner. We waited for 55 min. after we ordered; and we only ordered 1 burger, buffalo wings, and a shrimp cocktail. While we there, these guys sat down to a dirty table even after we put in our order. So the waitress had time to clean their table and then they got their table full of food and were enjoying it for a good 20 min before we got so upset that we asked the waitress, and her answer was that they ordered "medium" burgers, while ours was med. well, we waited for another 5 min, and they food still didn't come, so then i asked her if we could just pay for our drinks, and she just walked away, no apology said., she didn't even get us our bill, grrrr......that really made me angry! so we had to leave our money on the table, I understand that sometimes restaurants mess up orders, but if the waitress had said sorry or explained to us why we waited so long, i wouldn't be so angry, I'm neva goin back there again!
Better Than Expected. I stumbled into McCormicks by accident and really didn't expect very much, but the food is excellent, the tables are comfortable, the service was great and the price was fair. I really liked their blackened swordfish, which is really fresh with a great flavor. All of their shellfish is great and in a good sauce or broth. There are many different excellent fish dishes and they have great specials when certain fish is more seasonal. And the kitchen was flexible about prepping my dish to my specific taste. I have also been there for the happy hour specials which are an amazingly great deal. A large burger which was great, was only $1.95. My only complaint is I wish they didn.t play jazz music in the dining area. Although it's not too loud so it's not a big deal. Overall I say the food is really outstanding and it's a fun atmosphere.

Upscale and sophisticated, this chain features art deco-inspired trappings such as dark wood, shiny brass and beveled glass. Servers clad in black and white weave through cocktailing couples and businessmen at the bar. The classic American, seasonally inspired seafood menu changes daily; specialties include starters of Dungeness crab cakes and oysters on the half shell, plus entrees like cedar plank-roasted salmon, sauteed lobster with scallops and rock shrimp, and seared yellowfin tuna with wasabi, soy and ginger.
cheap happy-hour food items.
usually go for happy hour. they have a good selection of dirt cheap food on happy hour menu which you can order before... 5:30pm i think?
however the drinks are kinda on the pricey side (around $12+ for cocktails). well they have to balance their check books too you know.
Avoid during the weekend..... The food was good, when we got what we ordered and when it finally arrived. I would have rather of gone somewhere else, b/c there was no organization or help for the people working there.
Surprisingly unimpressive. I was pretty disappointed by the food. Many of my friends love it there and I finally went after 4yrs about hearing how great the food was. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes, but everything was very bland and dry. I should have gotten a regular lobster, you can't really go wrong with that. Maybe I should have only gone for happy like one of the reviews stated.
Sunday Family Dinner.
The restaurant is pretty good and acceptable. We went with family and were four adults only. The servicer was friendly and amicable. The menu offering is larger than say a Legal's.
Appetizers - the mussels and RI quahogs were a bit spicy. The chowder was fine. The broiled seafood platter was delicious and the traditional atlantic cod was great. The only thing too sour was the linguine with clam sauce - too much lemon juice. The desserts looked delicious, but we did not have any of them.
The great thing about this place are the "Snugs". These are private booths that fit about six people. They provide privacy and separate your party from the main dining floor. However, you must make a reservation to get one of them or ask ahead of time. We enjoyed the privacy and sophistication of this unique restaurant feature.
From A Server's Perspective. I really wanted to like this place. I work in the business and am always looking for places that offer quality product, service and good value. Unfortunately none of those attributes are found here. The food was only mediocre, overpriced and the service was definetly substandard. While dining at the bar on a relatively quiet Saturday afternoon I watched a "trained professional" do some unsavory things with the very same hands he used to make drinks and serve food. Not once in the time I was there did he bother to wash those hands. Instead he continually wiped them on the front of his too-small white jacket and blithely continue on his way.
only go for happy hour. the $1.95 happy hour menu is fabulous, you get great portions for little money and its really good. The problem starts when you sit in the dinning room. The regular menu is rediculously overpriced. the food on the $1.95 menu is better! I cant believe I paid $100 for me and my girlfriend when i could have gone to Mcdonalds and got better service and food.Also they have about fifty seafood items at the top of the menu that you cant order, its jsut shows you the seafood they have. how confusing.
