“The atmosphere was terrible, the service was horrible, all the employees were rude and had bad tempers.”
“It's a good place for after work drinks and apps and is usu.”
“The food is great, not completely my type of a place.”
“knock the place down a star because the beer selection was lacking a bit in my opinion and the bartenders/staff were somewhat friendly, but not very engaging.”
“Defending a great place”
“An awesome no bar with no pretense or posturing- just cheap beer, great food and decent people.”

“Of course if I had a three hour lunch it wouldn't matter how slow the kitchen was.”
Doctor's Orders. As a busy psychopharmacologist, I demand excellent service and an expertly mixed cocktail. As a son of blue collar South Boston, I demand an atosphere free of trendiness and pretense. Foley's has been delivering both since I was a pre-med student. So after work, make sure to take your meds at Foley's!
mmmmm.....beer. A good time for a great price. Also one of the best juke boxes around.
X marks the Spot. JJ Foley's is da bomb! Excellent place to drink - I mean, underthetable drinking! Prices are reasonable and it is very "Irish" - more so than Purple Sham... but not as much as Black Rose... bartenders and other staff are the most beautiful, friendly people you'd meet in the area. Crowd is mostly couriers on break, young urban profs, singers, songwriters, and even your occasional
The Postman Always Rings Twice. Your reviewers certainly weren't there the same times I've been there. (Noon-three). There are lots of non-suit types mostly mailmen sloshing down lots of beers before returning to their routes. Good place to drink though I don't recommend the food primarily because the service is so slow. Of course if I had a three hour lunch it wouldn't matter how slow the kitchen was.
AWESOME JJ. I love this bar! It's a really nice place to go after you have been clubbing and you don't want to go home. It's fun!
Fun!. They have best jukebox I have seen! And the bartenders are great.
Like Coming home. Foley's is a wonderful place for people looking for a good atmosphere and friendly service. The bar has the same variety of beers and drinks as most in the area. What makes Foley's special is the people who work there, and the crowd that hangs there. Whether you go in on a weekday or a weekend , there is always the feeling of coming home. and if that's not good enough for you , i don't know what is .....
Very Good. I am new to Boston area, and was hanging out near Downtown crossing and spotted this one. The Bartender was very friendly, and what I thought would be a gulp n' go lasted 3 hours. Met some interesting people. Very good for after office chill outs. Great juke box set
Horrible Time. The atmosphere was terrible, the service was horrible, all the employees were rude and had bad tempers. The locals that gathered there did not behave well at all. There were smelly, foul mouth, disgusting people from wall to wall...stay away if you know what's good for you.
Best Bar hands down!!. THis is without a doubt the best BAr in Boston and has been for years. Great staff, friendly atmosphere, not full of hair spray, cologne and lipstick.
