We think that the modernist Werner Otto Hall is the stunning architectural statement that this collection deserved..
The Place
The Busch-Reisinger's riches date primarily from the 20th century artistic flowering of Germanic culture. The personal archives of Walter Gropius and Lyonel Feininger make the museum a mecca for students of the Bauhaus.
The Particulars
The fine art collection is especially strong in German expressionism, with major works by Max Beckmann, Feininger, Paul Klee, Gustav Klimt and (our favorite) Franz Marc. It's worth a visit just to see his "Red Horses."
Guided tours are offered Monday through Friday at 1pm from September through June; Wednesdays at 1pm in July and August.
