What People Are Saying About Lumiere

The Scene – An exceptionally welcoming, and pricey, neighborhood restaurant, Lumiere honors its name ("light" in French) by filling its dining room with calming woods, white linen and candlelight. Efficient servers point out the menu's many intricacies while looking out for empty water glasses. Couples form a high-brow date by combining a meal with an indie flick across the street at the West Newton Cinema. – – The Food – Lumiere's signature dish, seared sea scallops served atop a dollop of potato mousseline with fresh mushroom vinaigrette, personifies its commitment…
LOVE IT!

You can't get a better meal. The freshness and quality of this food is to die for. Take your date there to impress her without breaking the bank. It is by no means cheap, but compared to restaurants downtown, I would say 10 times better for half the price. I am a foody and this is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is always great, as is the service and ambience. If you are a meat lover, it doesn't get better than Lumiere, dry aged ribeyes, hanger steaks - ever heard of one? They're the most tasty cut of meat I've ever had. Their fish always tastes like it was caught that morning (probably was) and the chef even knows the name of the boat that catches his fish. More than food, a remarkable experience.
- Pros: Food, Service, Cocktails, Overall Dining Experience
- Cons: Can't think of one
Best Restaurant - Certified Green and Supports Local Farmers

Lumiere is my favorite restaurant in Boston, sure it's not in Boston Proper, but you can't get a better meal anywhere in this city. From the moment you walk into the door you are greeted by warm, smiling faces. The service is welcoming and friendly and professional. Simply thinking about Levitons cuisine makes my mouth water. You must try the seared sea scallops! Even if you are not a scallop lover you will change your mind. You can't go wrong with any choice and what impresses me most is the consistency. I've eaten at Lumiere over a dozen times and every time I am blown away. If you haven't been GO. Also they offer a fixed price menu for 40 dollars Sunday through Thursday. You get 3 courses for only $40 dollars - delicious.
- Pros: Best meal of your life
- Cons: none
Great Restaurant Week 2008 Experience!
by InspiredChef1 at Citysearch
Lumiere offered up the best of the Restaurant Week experience I have had. The corn soup and BLT salad were delectable. The Chatham bluefish was the best prepared bluefish I have had -- such bold, tantalizing flavor! The blueberry shortcake was superb -- the perfect example of what shortcake should be. While I have minor criticisms of the hake (could have had bolder flavor) and the lime sorbet (could have been less tart), the meal was overall delicious and the service was polished and attentive.
Definitely visit for Restaurant Week -- note, Lumiere has an extended Restaurant Week menu.
