Over-priced and over-rated. Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Nice atmosphere. Good but not great service. $55/person for a three course meal. Appetizers were tasty but very small. Small salad or soup bowl which wasn't even filled up and not very hot. Main course was good but the steak was very small and came with only two large shrimp. Veggies were not good. Tried all four dessert options. My daughter said the pumpkin pie was good. My wife and I didn't care for the apple pie which lacked apples or the mousse. The bread pudding was too dry. Overpriced wine completed the experience. Nice place but way too much money for not to much good food.

Save your money . . . don't have brunch here. My husband & I & another couple went here for New Year's Day brunch. I always thought the library room looked beautiful, with a very quaint, old-Boston feel. The atmosphere was very enjoyable; it was so pretty, seated by a window, facing the park, with snow falling. The view & ambience were the only high points. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was brusque with me--I began to tell her I was unsure of the name given when I made the reservation (I use both my married & maiden names). She barked at me, "What is your NAME?" quite rudely. My friends had arrived 1st & when I told them, they said she was rude to them also. It was cold in the room & despite there being only 4 or 5 other parties, it was 15 minutes before we could order. They kindly agreed to make subsitutions in their Brahmin Brunch (around $30.00/person--includes fruit salad, pecan roll, salmon egg benedict, small tenderloin, potatoes, waffle, mimosa & dessert). They agreed to substitute the benedict for me with scrambled egg, but they STILL gave me the salmon--the part I most objected to. I peeled it off. We never got our pecan rolls & when we asked for them, we were told there was an extra charge--problem was, we never got the INCLUDED pecan rolls--we wen't asking for extra. The food was really cold (except for the pecan roll, which we got near the end of our meal--the only reason IT was warm was because the kitchen had rushed to make ours after they ran out). One of my companions found it to be a bit raw still. The watress was nice enough, but my party had the feeeling she was tring to avoid us after a while--even though we were disappointed, we were perfectly nice & polite to her, even though my friends had to flag her down for coffee refills. For $200 for a party of 4, we were VERY disappointed with everything but the atmosphere. For a supposed elegant brunch spot, the food was cheap hotel/function food, waaaay overpriced for the quality & the service. We will NOT be back.

Lovely Relaxed Sunday Brunch. This is a gorgeous place to have a delicious, relaxed Sunday Brunch. The live jazz is a really nice touch. They were very accommodating towards all my requests and have their entire menu online. GREAT BLOODY MARYS!

I recommend going in the winter, because you won't have trouble getting a reservation and they will have the fireplace lit, but it's really nice all year.

The original Cheers Bar's upstairs neighbor (and sister establishment) hosts numerous weddings and private events.. In Short
The Hampshire House's sweeping chandeliers, faux turn-of-the-century portraits, dark mahogany bookcases and live music all seem to sway above the Public Garden. Now only open to the public for special holidays like Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving, the venue is used mainly as the setting for weddings, private events and charity functions.
