Editorial Review for Landmark Embassy Cinema – by Citysearch Staff
History
For 15 years the residents of Waltham lived in a film-free zone. Hungry for culture, thirsty for a glimpse of the big screen, they faithfully, if not dejectedly, piled into their cars and trekked to Burlington, Framingham or West Newton to the nearest movie theater. No longer.
Inside Track
Much like Landmark's other Boston-area theater, the Kendall Square Cinema, the Embassy takes the high road when choosing its weekly lineup, passing on action-packed blockbusters in favor of foreign films, first-run independents and the odd Hollywood movie with some soul.
Extra
Some of the theater's most compelling features: wall-to-wall screens, plush seats arranged for clear viewing (though no stadium seating) and an espresso bar.
