Editorial Review for Twin Farms – by Gayot.com
The Scene
If you're looking for unbridled pampering and you have the money to pay for it, this is the place. Infused with apple trees and wildflowers, the wooded, 300-acre property is a gorgeous as it gets. Yet most guests come for the indoor pursuits. The spa treatments are to die for, and the cuisine is outstanding. There is no formal menu, and chef Neil Wigglesworth is constantly delighting guests with new creations.
The Details
The main inn (dating back to 1795) has come a long way since it was inhabited by Nobel Prize winning writer Sinclair Lewis and his wife, Dorothy Thompson, a journalist. Works by David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein hang on the walls. As for the rooms and outlying cottages, they are works of art in and of themselves. The architecture incorporates natural elements such as stone, pine and maple, and decor draws on Japanese, Moroccan and Scandinavian styles. If you do want to spend some time outdoors, you can enjoy tennis, canoeing, hiking and cross-country skiing. The beginning rates of almost $1,000 a night get you breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and all the wine you can drink. Kids under 18 aren't allowed.
