Covert Body Shop

I am writing to what I hope will help others in not taking their vehicle to Covert Body shop located downtown Austin on 5th. Their business ethics cannot even be considered worth calling a business. I just recently had some damage to my vehicle due to an accident through no fault of my own. Thinking that I was being a loyal customer to Ford by taking my vehicle to it's body shop is turning out to have been a huge mistake. I just left the bodyshop a few hours ago after having had a very long "discussion" with a person who was not only rude, but down right insistent on letting me know that the damage I was pointing out to him was not part of the accident. He spoke to my daughter and I in such a demeaning manner and the tone he used was just as well as he would have been saying that my explanations were untrue. I have never experienced such disrespect from any business before. And although my immediate reaction thereafter was to have my vehicle towed to another body shop, I called my insurance adjuster to explain and vent to him on what had occurred. As you can probably understand, the experience of an accident is already stressful enough...dealing w/the insurance companies alone is a strain, but now on top of everything else, to also be aggravated by the inspector (older man, thin) of the body shop I chose which I felt conforted in knowing that my vehicle would be repaired by the maker of is now contrary to comfort but instead now down right concerned. I am truly disappointed and feel that whoever is in charge over there should know what kind of treatment customers are faced with or maybe they do and they just don't. Not sure if it's just rudeness or racism going on over there.

I took my car here to get a scratch on my back bumper painted. A woman ran into my car while it was parked and left her information, so it was covered by her insurance company, All State. I took it in on a Monday, and it was having NO problems running WHATSOEVER. I received a call at 3:30 the following Thursday afternoon to tell me that my car was ready, which gave me less than two hours notice to return the rental car and pick up my car from the shop if I wanted to avoid paying for an additional day's car rental, which would have been uninsured from that point on. Not ten minutes after picking my car up, I noticed that it was running strangely (it jerked when idling, and eventually when running, too), but was not able to take it back to the body shop because I was already late for work due to the short notice. I called the next day to complain, but the woman who helped me, Debbie, insisted very rudely that it could not have been Covert's fault. Shortly thereafter, the "check engine" light came on, and I took it to Groovy automotive. They diagnosed the problem as water in the spark plugs, and asked if anyone had recently washed the engine. Now, it seems entirely possible that this COULD have been a result of the body work, and I called Covert back accordingly. The woman who answered transfered me to another woman, who did not answer her phone (in the same vein, Debbie was never available when I tried to call her about my car before and while it was being worked on; she was always "out to lunch" or "with a customer"). Now I am looking at $150 worth of work on my engine for something that should have been entirely free. Overall, my experience with Covert was VERY POOR: not only did they mess up my engine, but the customer service also leaves much to be desired (very curt, always "busy"). I would not recommend taking your car here, ever.
