Best Spots to Kiss in Boston
Updated: October 01, 2009
We should all have a secret hideaway in the city to sneak a smooch, from lush verdant hills to a lounge's shadowy corners. Whether it's your first (or last) kiss, you can make each one count with a stellar, it-can't-get-better-than-this setting.

We'll spare you the baseball metaphors, but you can't deny the surge of endorphins and adrenaline and glee that comes from a Red Sox victory (especially when it's clinching a World Series title). Celebrate a win with a "Go Sox!" lip-lock, and have fun running around your own bases later. (Sorry.)

Heck, taking your date to an orchestral extravaganza already sets the scene for romance. However, if you play your cards right, claim seats in the front row of the balcony, where you can dramatically smooch--the entire grand theater's your stage.

When the dance floor gets really crazy, the DJ escalates the party, and everyone's sweating and smiling and tossing their hair back and mugging the camera and making bedroom eyes to the room, this is the precise moment to grab your sweetie, get that much closer and have a sweet moment that you can only claim yourselves amidst the hipster-bopping mayhem.

What would Boston be without the Charles River snaking its way throughout the city and our hearts? Though we wouldn't necessarily suggest dipping into the waters themselves, boating is a handsome sport. Accordingly, the Boston Sailing Center's gangway is one of the most picturesque perches to pucker up before or after a rollicking outing.

Yes it's a hotel, but a room's not necessary. Head to the roof, where there's a mini running track, from the hotel's elevator. It's dark and private (save for the fearless errant jogger), but you'll be surrounded by the glow of city lights and a whiff of athletic vigor.
Sonsie Restaurant

Sometimes you can't wait to mosey off Newbury Street for a little innocent necking. Step in and head downstairs to the lesser-crowded wine bar. Make a beeline for the booth in the back, recessed and completely hidden. Private and darkened, but in the midst of the action, it's a glam nook with minimal sketchiness.
Esplanade

Unsurprisingly, the gorgeous green stretches of Boston's crown jewel are more than worthy for a romantic stroll. However, try sneaking a kiss beside (or on, if you dare) a sailboat, or sitting on the little piers come sunset.
Institute of Contemporary Art

For the modern romantic, the ICA is a fantasy structure, with soaring lines and breathtaking views. If the weather's cooperative, cuddle on the inclined patio along the waterfront. For the enclosed version, meander to the fourth floor corridor with floor-to-ceiling windows of the endless ripples below.
Paul Revere House

Some may turn their nose up at the Freedom Trail, but there's a historic sense of elegance of meandering through the Paul Revere mall, next to the horseback statue of Boston's handsome hero. And what's better post-makeout than some Italian pastries nearby? Kiss and tell to the cannoli.
