London designer Ted Baker's 1756 square-foot boutique purveys menswear and womenswear in a traditional Victorian red brick building on Newbury Street. Topiary tea pots, surreal glass top hats and a black and white marble "chequerboard" floor evoke a Mad Hatter’s tea party.

Zany housewares designer Jonathan Adler's first New England store sits prettily on Newbury Street, adjoining two adjacent storefronts with three archways in between to make one big space. Distinctive products at the boutique include diffusers, the Brasilia pottery line, lacquered items, the walnut channing desk, the Templeton apartment couch and the whole Barbie line.

With a sleek store design well-suited to its Newbury Street digs, Hotel Chocolat (said with French pronunciation, s'il vous plait), sells luxe bars, bonbons and accoutrements, and hosts more intimate chocolate experiences in its private tasting room.
