SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11, 10am-3pm: At this bake sale and raffle at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, students of the program are offering hundreds of tantalizing sweets and raffle items that include gift certificates to top restaurants in the city (Rialto, Craigie on Main, Oleana, Hamersley's Bistro), signed cookbooks and more. All proceeds go to Share Our Strength whose mission is to end childhood hunger in America by 2015.
DECEMBER 6-9: Pepperhead? Masochist? Get your dose of holiday pain not from family, but from spice at East Coast Grill with "Hell-o-Daze." ECG's Hell Night events are wildly popular, so be sure to call for reservations or show up early to grab a seat at the bar. The menu brings serious heat to drinks, the raw bar and just about every dish. Your tastebuds might be sorry, but you'll love every minute of it.
The Wheelock Family Theater celebrates the THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY UNTIL DECEMBER 19: The tenth anniversary of ballet mastermind Tony Williams' modern take on Tchaikovsky's classic holiday show is a "Nutcracker" that brings diversity and inner city edge. Tickets available at the Wheelock Family Theater website.
THROUGH DECEMBER: Miss Gardner's courtyard is stunning year-round but the addition of poinsettias, holiday topiaries, and sparkling silver adornments add a magical touch. Pop in for a bite at the cafe, to peruse the fine art, or simply to sit near the quiet courtyard wishing your own decorations could look that good.
THROUGH DECEMBER 29: Avoid South Station and a trip to NYC this holiday season and catch the Radio City Christmas Spectacular right in our own backyard. Those leggy Rockettes are kicking up a two-hour show at the Citi Performing Arts Center now.
