Follow our foolproof guide to free wine in Boston to taste the best vino in the city every day. From liquor stores to wine boutiques, try before you buy. Here's a day-by-day cheat sheet of where you can get a first taste of delicious pours at the wallet-friendly price of, well, free. Note that the deals aren't always limited to wine, many stores also pour tastes of liquor and beer.

WHEN: 5pm-7pm.
WHEN: Wine 4:30pm-7:30pm, beer 5pm-7pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Since Ball Square offers scrumptious samplings of both beer and wine, tasters can try varietals and brews alike. However, the tastings operate on different schedules, but overlap in the 5pm-7pm range.
WHEN: 5pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Customers usually have to purchase tickets for classes at Formaggio Kitchen, but free Friday tastings occur on occasion. Call ahead to check the upcoming schedule.
WHEN: 5pm-8pm.
WHEN: 1pm-5pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Tastings are often themed (sustainable spirits, gifts for dads and grads, etc.), so look up the schedule online before trotting off to score free wine in Boston.

WHEN: Thu-Fri 4pm-6pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Despite its name, Boston Wine Exchange doesn't limit itself to wine sampling; it also offer beers and spirits.
WHEN: Beer Thursday nights, wine Friday nights.
WHEN: Mon-Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 12pm-6pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Instead of offering a steady stream of weekly tasting events, Wine Gallery offers a 48-bottle stocked jukebox of different wine brands, vineyards and varietals. Check the website for semi-weekly tastings. THE EXTRAS: Live more towards the city? The Wine Gallery also has a location in Kenmore Square, which offers free valet parking.
WHEN: Mon-Tue 4pm, Wed-Fri 2pm and 4pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: These weekday tastings are complimentary and feature a narrated tasting of Harpoon's brews. Weekend tours ($5) start at 11:30am on Saturdays and 12pm on Sundays, starting on every half hour, and include a souvenir Harpoon pint cup.
WHEN: Mon-Thu 10am-3pm, Fri 10am-5:30pm, Sat 10am-3pm. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Tours start approximately every 45 minutes. Saturday tours fill up especially quickly, so make sure to arrive early.
