You'll practically go into sugar shock at this Willy Wonka-esque emporium that has more than 5,000 types of candy, a chocolate conveyor belt and a mod interpretation of the old-fashioned ice cream parlor. If you're looking for your kids, they're probably bouncing off the walls.
This kid-friendly activity in Boston is really more kid-friendly shopping, with clothes, toys and home decor (really) for the most discerningly urbane child. Your mini-me can browse the adorable animal-shaped pillows or comb through the categorized-by-age bookshelf.
While a traditional museum can seem rather "shushing" by discouraging loud noises or touching gallery objects, the Boston Children's Museum invites all to climb, poke, stare and wonder at the fascinating world of knowledge and culture. Hands-on exhibits invite kids to play and learn; topics range from aerodynamics to what it's like to live in a tree house.
Hit one of the more scenic beaches that's accessible directly from the subway. Take the Blue Line to the Revere stop and then trudge the sands of the first public beach in the country. You'll drum up enough of an appetite for a swell roast beef sandwich from the infamous, ocean-facing Kelly's.
